Agreed. I understand the reasoning for it, but it’s a real shame because it cuts out a bit of the opening score, and it also makes the opening shot of the wall seem a little odd.
What really struck me as comical is the The Incredibles came on right after Toy Story, and it’s opening hasn’t yet been updated. It retains the Pixar version of the Walt Disney logo.
On the other hand, it is kind of neat that they edited the newer versions of Toy Story, and presumably Toy Story 2 for the TV airings rather than just using the older versions they used to show all the time.
Just finished watching Toy Story, lot of TS3 spoilers and commercials I had to avoid. And I agree, seeing the new disney logo was weird, and originally they didn’t even have the Pixar logo.
Basically, if you start the film exactly where the Disney logo disappears, that’s where it starts now. The last two notes of the opening score remain, but the intro that was later used in the other Pixar films is gone completely. So basically, the movie now starts with a shot of a blue wall…
Thankfully, though the same changes were made to Toy Story 2, it’s logos are independent of the film, so there are no effects.
I’m surprised so many of you guys are complaining about the change. Not because I don’t agree, but I thought most of us already had the blu ray and complained about it when that come out. its the same transfer.
It was nice to see the Buzz Lightyear of Star Command movie again. I hadn’t seen it in almost 9 years, so it was cool. Mira gets on my nerves, though. :
I was considering watching Buzzlightyear of star command, but only if it was in HD. not only was it not in HD, but it wasn’t even in widescreen. forget that.
Was the Buzz Lightyear of Star Command movie ever in widescreen though? I mean it was released direct-to-video and was basically a pilot episode done by Disney’s television crew (that Aladdin sequel The Return of Jafar was also), so they usually aren’t made to be widescreen in those cases.
You’re right, my mistake. I probably forget that it was widescreen cause they made it fullscreen for the TV series (and back when it came out I only had the VHS). At least it’s not the dubbed version of the film with Patrick Warburton.
Watching it now I kind of feel that Tim Allen’s voice in it isn’t quite as lively as when he plays the character in the Toy Story films, but I still like it more than when it was dubbed. I guess that’s cause I watched it with Tim first so it makes the dubbed episodes sound rather weird, while every other episode with Patrick Warburton’s voice is easier to get used to.
