ABC Toy Story / Pixar marathons

In the two weeks prior to the release of Toy Story 3, ABC Family will be airing Toy Story, Toy Story 2, and Buzz Lightyear: The Adventure Begins on June 5th, 6th, and 13th, as well as Pixar shorts and sneak peaks of Toy Story 3 each day.

Yay! I can’t wait.

Aww, darn! I wish I lived in the U.S. You guys get all the good and exclusive stuff! That sounds so cool, Bryko614! If anyone is planning to watch it, please tell me what happened! Much Appreciated

AWESOME! I hope they’re presented in HD. It will also be my first time seeing the Buzz Lightyear movie, so I hope thats good too.

Sounds cool. Buzz Lightyear of Star Command is kind of a surprise since it wasn’t so much Pixar’s work but one of Disney’s typical direct-to-video pilots for a TV series that were always part of their business back then, but it’s still related to Toy Story so I can see the reason for showing it. What’s funny about it now is knowing that Pixar usually detested Disney’s “cheapquels” as they’re called and fought against them for Toy Story 3, yet they were okay with them using Buzz for a spin-off cartoon.

yes! I’m sure this will get me even more excited for Toy Story 3!

Lee Unkrich said he opposed the spin off at first, but is okay with it since its basically what the the Buzz toy line in toy story came from. its okay that it doesn’t meet their standards, most Saturday morning cartoons haven’t been high quality. it just had to seem like it would be successful enough to launch a toy line.

I’m sure the obvious fear at first was that they were going to ruin their beloved character but I know that Pixar probably never had any vision in their minds as to what Buzz Lightyear’s universe was really supposed to be like, so you have to admire them for taking the risk of letting Disney have some fun with Buzz as long as it was outside of Toy Story.

Keep in mind, it was the geniuses at Disney that brought us Mickey Mouse. Although that genuis doesn’t show through in a lot of their cartoons these days, they’re still capable. Buzz Lightyear of Star Command, in my eyes, was a success. Given what little details we know of Buzz from the movies, they expanded that, and even gave him some teammates.
I can’t remember much, but I just watched an old episode I had recorded on VHS. Good stuff.

Anyways, will Toy Story and Toy Story 2 be the “updated” versions?

Some of us dont watch cable, because they hate commercials so much they wont turn it on. Thats me, hahaha. I’ll catch them online if I want to see them as well.

Thats where DVR comes in.

of course, I wont be bothering with this, since I already have them on blu ray, there woul dbe no advantages, except for any possible toy story 3 spots and such during the breaks.

I do wonder what versions they’ll use, theres no way of telling yet. it might not even be the HD version for all we know. I might watch the first one just to see if its the version with the old castle in tact.

Actually, it was Walt that brought us Mickey Mouse. One thing I’ve had to learn over time is that there’s a bit of a difference between when Walt was around and the way things changed after he died. But that’s an entirely different matter.

OMGSWEEEEEEEEEEEEEET! :astonished:

I already have both movies and Pixar shorts set to be recoreded on my DVR!

Whoa! You’ve never seen the Buzz Lightyear movie? I saw it ages ago when it first came out. I remember the ocassion very well: my dad and my brother had just gotten home and they had brought me Chick-Fil-A, a Woody doll, and the Buzz Lightyear movie. It was a joyous day indeed. I still have the Woody doll and the Buzz Lightyear movie.

You are absolutely correct Flik-E! Ub Iwerks also played an important role in Mickey’s earliest moments as well!

Cool! I’ll be sure to watch Toy Story and Toy Story 2. But I’ll have to turn the channel when it’s time for the TS3 thing.

Just saw the new featurette, called “Old Friends, New Worlds” or something like that. What a spoiler fest! I couldn’t believe it! xD If you thought the Movie Surfers featurette was bad, this one has like 10 shots from that scene, just scattered and spread throughout. Still, enjoyable. Tom Hanks to Tim Allen: “You have, like, 6 lines in this one!”

LOL! I can’t believe it either. It looks like they showed part of the ending in that one. So far that’s one of my favorite sneak peeks! Some people are gonna start freaking out when it comes online.

I love Tom Hanks and Tim Allen in that sneak peek. It looks like they had fun working on the movie. I like how Tim was repeating Tom’s lines"Look under your boot, Buzz! You too, Jessie!" and Lee just laughs. ;D

*I don’t think it was necessary, but I put a spoil tag just in case. Don’t want to take any chances.

I saw that too Bryko614! Nothing new as far as new scenes/spoilers, but it was pretty darn funny! I’m enjoying seeing it on TV, even though I’ve already seen Toy Story countless times.

Just got done watching it. I hate how they got rid of the oringal Disney Pixar logo and replaced it with the new one.
