Adventure Games

I know I know. This could go in my Video Games thread, and a bit flattered it became a Sticky, but adventure games are in a leauge of their own.
Now I’m not talking about action/adventure ones like God of War or something, but those old “point and click” ones. Remember those people? Enganging stories and environments, solving puzzles, picking up the odd ball piece of something or other? ^0^
Games like Grim Fandango, Curse of Monkey Island, heck even Kings Quest. And unlike most video game genres, these really felt like a journey. It was such a pity that Lucas Arts, a forerunner in Adventure Games shut it’s doors. But thankfully the Adventure game genre is returning thanks to the DS touch screen.

Yay. I love adventure games. Monkey Island is awesome, I’ve played the first and second one. I’ve played every Sam & Max game and all of the Telltale series except for “Bone”. Also, Phoenix Wright (while technically not a completely normal adventure game) is one of my favorite game series. I love adventure games because they really make you think but are still usually very funny and unique with interesting characters.

If we’re talking point-and-click, I think Myst has to be one of the ultimate adventure games. A captivating story, strange and exiting puzzles, beautiful graphics and several worlds to explore…Can’t really go wrong! I play it even now and it still hasn’t dated much.
