I don’t know if this goes for all the Cars Toons, but Air Mater was completely created by the new studio branch up in Vancouver, Canada. I found that pretty interesting. 
On nice! I think this was the first short from there I saw, that I know of.
Oh good! They seem to be able to grasp the Cars Toons formula well, at least. 
It was totally ridiculous and a shameless plug for Planes, but I wasn’t expecting anything else. XD
