Mell (PhD, MB, BBQ) - Amen, dude. I wouldn’t mind it if classic films and cartoon shows were revived in a decent and respectable fashion, but to abuse them in a fashion such as the one in question (Alvin and the Chipmunks) is just…disgusting. Eheh.
Anyway, I still think Jason Lee is pretty HOT . I’d love to see it just to check him out, but I will probebly wait for the DVD.
As foy My Little Pony … I already have a clue as they’d ruin that. Just have Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie voice the two main ponies. I sure hope they don’t do that though. I loved My Little Pony as a kid.
Speaking of Hollywood ruining some of the best stuff from the 80’s and 90’s , does anybody remember the GOOSEBUMPS Book and TV series by R.L. Stine ? That was one of the prime highlights of my 90’s childhood. I LOVED that book series and TV series.
Now they are making a GOOSEBUMPS movie set for Christmas 2010. I sure hope they do not “update” Slappy the living dummy in any way, or I’ll be way upset. If anybody else who loved Goosebumps want da links, I’ll post them .
ROFL! My Little Ponies on steroids. I can see it now.
I was obsessed with the Goosebumps books when I was a kid. I never got into the TV series as much, although I think that’s just because of the timing as I was a lot older when they aired in the UK. Still, I just don’t see them making a good film. Goosebumps were great because they were short, imaginative horror stories with a twist, like the bad guy wins. I don’t think that will work as well drawn out to full feature length. You need the short, sharp shock or else it stops being scary and starts becoming ridiculous.
Frankly, I think Alvin eating poop says it all on the subject of re-makes.
They’d ruin R.L. Stine’s good work if it’s not handed to the right director. If it’s just a typical director of horror-remake flops that directs a Goosebumps movie, it will be so botched that even the kids whom read Goosebumps today , ( Yes, Slappy, Curly, and Co. are still populer and in print !! ) will be extreamly disappointed.
The guy would ruin Slappy the Living Dummy by turning him into a foul-mouthed knock-of of Chucky that butchers two thirds of the human cast. Need I point out that the bueaty of R.L. Stine’s most populer GB character was that he was Scary and Funny without having to murder anybody ? If they turn Slappy into a murderer , people won’t like him. He’ll just be " another Chucky ".
Slappy is so cool just as he is. I hope it’s a decent movie coming out in 2010.
Aww, I saw several trailers for the new movie and I’m psyched. xD I really really want to see it! And I don’t care about the reviews- it looks so cute! <3
I’m going to the press junket for this film in Santa Barbara and doing interviews with Ross Badgasarian, Jr. (the son of the Chipmunks’ creator) and one of the actors (don’t know who yet). I’ve been a freelance writer for 4 years, but this is the first time I’ve ever gotten to go to anything like this. I still don’t think the movie looks very good, but I’m very exited anyway! As I mentioned, I grew up watching the 80’s series and the Chipmunk Adventure animated movie.
My GF and I saw the commercial. She started squeeing and when she starts to do that, then that means she wants to see it. So she made me more intrested than usual now.
