in the first one he’s 6 but now 2010 he’s 18 whats up by my math he should be 21 any one else notice this and thin it’s strange.
Well, I might be wrong but I don’t think we know for a fact that it takes place in 2010, or even 2009 do we?
Also, how do we know he was 6 in the first movie? I’m sure there’s evidence somewhere, but I cant think of any.
Yeah, I like to think that the film happened sometime before 2010, in 2009. Although I may be biased since I like to draw connections to myself and Andy, since we both entered college recently.
Do you have to be 18 to go to college? Perhaps he’s had a gap year, or maybe the film is set in 2009, as others have said. Then, depending on what time of year his birthday is, it would work out.
I dunno if you have to be 18, but that is the conventional age. I never looked into specifics about his age. I’m not sure if this is supposed to be in ‘real time’ or not. So it works out for me. When we first see him he’s a young kid (although he seems a little older to me than 6. But, I could be wrong), then he’s a little older, on the verge of adolesence, now he’s a young adult. Makes sense to me.
He had to be 6 because if he was 8 he’d be 12 in the toy story 2 plus if you look closely at the birthday scene and the presents it says big 6 one of the presents.
Well, it’s just kind of real-time. It’s the effect of little kids growing up with little-kid Andy, and now they’re all teens like him. It’s not exact, but still. I was wondering more about Molly, she had to be at least 2 or so, so she would be 14 at least, though she looks more like 11…
I doubt it’s supposed to be real-time. For me, I feel like I’ve been close to his age all along, but now I’m headed to college this fall-maybe we’re supposed to “grow with” him.
Yeah, I wondered that when his age in the 3rd movie first popped up. I believed that in the first movie he was 6, which to me I thought was awesome because when the movie came out I was 6. Then when the second movie came out I was 10 (or 11, give or take a few months), and I could have sworn he was the same age.
Now I’m about to turn 21 and if Pixar didn’t reveal Andy’s age I would have assumed that he would be my age. o_O
It is set in real time look what I found
So its even set in the future a little. and I guess this means the original toy story took place around 1997?
No because look at this image and toy story took place in the summer she just had the november sticker
Maybe he just got held back a few years in high school?
Nah, it says right on the official site, he’s 18.
Oh my, I am 18 as well!
Well in the first trailer you can see Andy’s calender says August, whether that means 2009 or 2010 I don’t know…note that his clender said August in TS2 also…but her bumper sticker could mean anything, couldn’t it? OR, perhaps that scene is later in the movie, when she’s driving the toys back home to Andy. Andy does seem more grown up when he’s closing the box in the trailer, I’m guessing he gets them back at some point, perhaps years later.
