Does anyone note that Andy’s cowboy hat is basically Jessie’s hat minus the white band around it?

Is there any significance to this? Maybe Andy’s Mum picked the hat up from the donation store (like Goodwill) years after Emily donated Jessie and her other cowboy stuff. -Omar

Yes, I have noticed that too. Perhaps they were trying to hint at something back in 1 when they decided to create TS2.

I’ve always noticed that!! I thought it was cute because then Andy and Jessie could match.

I’m pretty sure it’s not a reference to TS2, but when they were designing Jessie maybe they took that hat for her…

i agree with youunculturedswine the only reason they HAD a TS2 was because of the success of TS

If it is a reference to anything, it would have to be the other way round- Toy Story 2 referring to Toy Story- though it seems like a bit of a tenuous link. It’s probably just a coincidence more than anything, though a cool coincidence.

Yeah, Jessie wasn’t even imagined back then. I think the earliest incarnation of the Roundup Gang was Woody, his horse, the Prospector, and a smaller cowboy.

I’m also pretty sure that they wanted to make a hat noticeably similar to Woody’s, but still different. They might’ve applied that same logic to Jessie.

I agree with the points made by lizardgirl in her post.

It is still pretty cute though, no matter what the deal with the hat is.

Mabey Andys mom bought it at a dime store, The same one the Prospector was at.

Actually it wasn’t a smaller cowboy it was a cactus.

Anyone notice his hat wasen’t in Toy Story 3. Im guessing he sold it or put it in storage.

Yes it was, via the picture Woody looks at while he fondly remembers the gold old days. as well as the whole montage of young andy.

The original picture’s in Woody’s gallery (yes, there is a cactus, in addition to the cowboy I mentioned). Stinky Pete and Bullseye also have the picture in their galleries, but Jessie doesn’t, which means she probably wasn’t even created at that point. As for the cactus, I don’t know where they were going with that.
