Animalympics

My fascination for this film has been ignited once again after almost

15 years. Anybody remember

it?

Animalympics is a Warner Bros. animated movie from 1980 that

parodies the Olympics using animal characters. The film features the voice talents of the amazing Harry Shearer,

Billy “Mike Wazowski” Crystal, and the late Gilda Radner.

Aside from the childhood memories, I

love Animalympics for its creativity, accurate animation, and killer

soundtrack…and the fact that Brad Bird was an animator for the movie is a plus.

I have yet to

find this animated gem on DVD. Until then, I have it recorded on tape.

If anyone happens to be a fan of

Animalympics, please let me know!

Hmm… It does ring a bell. I’ve heard of it, oh yes; however, I don’t think I’ve seen

it…yet, which is weird, because my family and I are Warner Bros. fanatics. :stuck_out_tongue:

Interesting information,

though, PV.

That was one of

the films of my childhood! The soundtrack was awesome, and it was so cool seeing all

the action. I hear recent TV broadcasts have edited it slightly, because of the Cold War jokes.

With Brad

Bird as an animator, this is another example of earlier interests coming full circle in later interests.

You are

so right, RMS. Family Dog is another example of

that.

And actually Mitch, I didn’t know it was a Warner Bros. movie when I was little because I had

watched it on the Disney Channel (back when it was good). However, they didn’t make the film. That was done by

Lisberger Studios Inc.
