Although 2009 is way over (almost 2 years older) the animated films from that year may be having an effect now.

I was reading an article about the most popular names 0f 2010. And a few usually uncommon names be seeming to get more popular, and a few are familier from recent animated movies

•Ellie, who leapfrogged 26 spots to come in at number 61, is a rising name star.
2 other less popular girl names are moving up the list as well including Evangeline and Charlotte (2 characters in Princess and the Frog)

Now I’m sure that people didn’t name their children after the cartoons, but I’m sure that there are a few that heard these names in the movies fell in love with them.

Anyways, here’s a few questions:

  • Are there any names that you heard from cartoons or animated films that you really like?
    *Any names from cartoons/aniamted movies that you don’t like because of the character affiliation?
  • Do you share a name with an animated character?
    *What do you think about animations influence on names?

I heard that #2 of most popular names this year is Jacob (From Twilight). I’m surprised Justin wasn’t on the list.

My name is really obscure, I can’t think of anyone else just in general with it. >< That’s really cool about the names Ellie, Charlotte and Evangeline, though I get the feeling the latter two don’t come from Princess and the Frog. Weren’t their actresses in big Hollywood movies last year (or sometime recently) with those names?

I don’t know about Charlotte, but I’m positibe that Evangeline from PATF had at least some influence.

The only other Evangelines in popular culture is Uncle Tom’s Cabin and the Cajun poem.

I fell in love with the name Ellie after I watched Up, so when a family friend needed help naming their puppy, I said Ellie, and their dog is Ellie now. :slight_smile:

Aww that’s really sweet rock-itpop! Actually, ever since I saw that moie I’ve fallen in love with the name Ellie, I think it’s something I wouldn’t mind naming my child someday!

Concerning animated names, the only thing that pops into my mind at this moment is that I had named one of my fancy rats Scrat, but sadly, he was the first to die. :C

Today I drove past a house with a sign that said “Welcome into the world Ellie Sunshine!”

My other rats were named Flurl and Swoosh, though now I only have Swoosh left, and I don’t think he’s got long now. D:

My baby cousin watched Up with us as one of her first few movies. YD before she was born i had already came up with her nickname, Ellie YD Her name also came from the movie Enchanted. My aunt fell in love with the name Giselle she just desided to use a J instead of a G.
I love the name they come up with i think their cute ^^ but i have created name for one of my children (or 2) but i think i’m going to name my first girl Raven and my frist boy Tristan YD i just love those names YDD
