I just wondered if anyone knew if animation writers exist within Pixar

I doubt “animation writers” exist in Pixar. But WRITERS do. And they happen to write sometimes for animation. Most of them are called Story Board Artists.

And if you are a writer at Pixar, are the skills of being able to draw a necessity?

Actually, I think he meant hypothetically like “if I were to work at Pixar”
