Not bad, considering the fact that Pixar movies aren’t actually made

to be out and out comedies. Some of the comments made for The Incredibles were mainly focused on Brad Bird, with

other famous actors saying things like, 'the best thing about The Incredibles is how life like in personality

the characters are, all because of Brad Bird’, and they also said how much they liked Edna Mode being voiced by

Brad.

On Toy Story, they were talking about how Tom Hanks is so good at playing someone who is frustrated

and angry, and that the scenes in which Woody lost his temper were the funniest.

To quote Flik from the Bug’s Life action/adventure

game: “Well, would you look at that!”

I’m glad that Pixar is moving up in

other fields of “filmology”. However, I’m rather surprised that those two Pixar films, in particular,

made the list. They are wonderful productions, of course; I just didn’t expect those two to make the list.

I also admire your patience to type out the names of those forty competitors,

lizardgirl. That must have taken you a while!

Hey, Shrek beat

Toy Story AND The

Incredibles? <img src=“{SMILIES_PATH}/youwhaaa.gif” alt=“o_0;;” title="You

Whaaa…" />

I’m just happy that both of my favorite Pixar worlds made it onto the list.

~~=oP

I am glad we made it up there !

BUT WHERE IS

DROP DEAD FRED ?

i know , it’s not a pixar movie , but it’s very funny

.

and i would think monster’s inc. would be there , not the incredibles , because I don’t remember

any funny parts .

Mitch- Nah, I just copied and pasted from the Five website.

The Star Swordsman- Although Toy Story and The Incredibles are both, in my

opinion, much better films than Shrek, I think this placing does make sense. One of the reasons I never liked

Shrek much was because the comedy aspect was focused on to the point it became unnatural, whilst in TS and TI,

the comedy was slipped in. Therefore, yes, technically, Shrek is a funnier film, so it therefore has a higher

placing- it just isn’t a better film overall.

Gottalovepixar- I agree- The

Incredibles being on the list at all did surprise me, and the reasons they gave for it being on the comedy list

had nothing to do with comedy at all. TI wasn’t made to be and out and out comedy film- actually, none of the

Pixar films were, so for any to be on the list is a bit surprising, especially when one compares with the other

films on the list, all of which are solely comedies. I agree that Monsters, Inc. would have been a more obvious

choice, especially including Mike Wazowski, but even MI wasn’t made to be a comedy in the way that, for example,

Planes, Trains and Automobiles was.

lizardgirl: You are right. I guess I am being a little biased. I can’t help that I

love Pixar films way more than Dreamworks, even though I did enjoy Shrek 2.

Exactly, TSS; obviously, I prefer Pixar to Dreamworks as well, but, bias or not, there’s no denying that the

Shrek films are far more of comedies than any Pixar film.

Anyways.

I’m quite glad that Life of

Brian got top spot, but at the same time I am shocked that Holy Grail isn’t even on

this top 40 list! I’m not trying to be blasphemous or

anything, but seriously, when you’re talking comedy, I don’t understand how on

Earth a Pixar film could beat out any Monty Python film!

The end.

Why isn’t Monty Python Holy and the Grail up there? That was a hilarious film. Oh well… there are a lot of

things on that list that I don’t agree with. But I think it’s great that Toy Story and The Incredibles got up

there. Toy Story definitely deserved it.

lizardgirl: Haha – I should have figured that out.

I also wonder why

the Holy Grail isn’t up there. It’s hilarious – it deserves to be on the list.

Perhaps some people are biased about that film, as well. Although, I don’t see how they could be, considering

that I almost wet my pants laughing when I saw it… :unamused:

Anyways, I’m glad that there are

at least two Pixar films in the top forty. Although they are definitely not the

Pixar films that I expected to see in this compilation, I am none-the-less pleased that they are there.

Well, the

places in the countdown were decided by the British public, though I agree- the Holy Grail should have been in

there, somewhere.

TSS- I know exactly what you mean. I used to be able to

watch the Shrek films and enjoy them, but now I automatically, throughout the film, keep thinking, 'yeah, not

bad, but not as good as Pixar’.

But you guys have a point. Humor wise, Shrek is way funnier than any of the Pixar movies have

watched. I just happened to laugh at The Incredibles more. But I talked to my friends and they can agree that

Shrek has more humor than others.

Shrek is more

geared told an adult audience, in that the humor is much more mature and over-played – it is more like a soap

opera or a comedy show in that way. The Incredibles, on the other hand, deals with

family issues, and is appropriately suited for younger children and parents/adults alike.

They both have

their ups and down – Shrek having more “ups” in the laugh factor;

The Incredibles obtaining more “ups” in the story department. I love them

both, in any case.

(Ok…I love The Incredibles a

tad bit more… :stuck_out_tongue: )
