Anyone else thinks kids channels suck today?

TRUTH.

but, you know, did anyone notice how /dark/ that show is? i mean, i just realized the other day that [spoil]finn is basically insane and living in a nuclear h*llscape.[/spoil] pretty freaky stuff.

i don’t watch adventure time. Most of my friends don’t watch it. it looks kind of silly to me, but I see the bits and pieces where it can be hilarious.

I find Adventure Time to be hilarious in the “Derp” and “Meme” sense of humor, but i don’t think kids their age would get it. It is disturbingly hilarious, however, but still, I’m in an older crowd, of drugs and cursing!

I’ve watched Adventure Time, and I didn’t really enjoy it, not to my taste, sorry!

Maybe I should mention something about Boomerang (UK). At least the American version has classic programs. Nowadays, It’s lucky to see a classic Hanna Barbera show, and Tom and Jerry is the only classic that’s not limited to evenings, weekdays or weekends. We then have classic–related cartoons like Tom and Jerry Tales and Pink Panther and Pals (no original Pink Panther BTW) and also plain modern cartoons like Mr Bean or The Garfield Show (maybe because it’s related to Garfield and Friends which aired on Boomerang). The Virgin on Demand service offers a better source of classics. How else can I and younger viewers catch Hanna Barbera classics?

I missed the old cartoons on cartoon netwrok (tom and jerry, loony tunes) In fact, the only time i can watch them is either through on demand or on a time slot that shows up once a week. Ptherwise, I just go to youtube.

Cartoon Network has earned a bit of my respect by playing an hour and a half of Tom and Jerry, and an hour and a half of Looney Tunes each day. Sure, they’re at horrible time slots but it’s a step in the right direction.

I’ve been reading through this… and some of you are right. It’s a shame that they sometimes air new shows on kids channels, and then just cancel them for something more popular. I remember there used to be this cartoon on Nickelodeon back in 2007 called Wayside (based on the Wayside School book series), and it was sooooooo funny! (my fave character was Dana). And after just a few months, it stopped airing. Same with The Mighty B! (that was a great show too).

As for the Disney kid-coms…I actually don’t really hate them as much. gets out umbrella to deflect tomatoes The only one I pretty much didn’t pay attention to (but watched passively) was Hannah Montana, and I was glad it ended; Miley was beginning a new chapter in her life anyway.

As for Cartoon Network… I don’t really watch much on there. I’ve seen a few episodes of MAD, and of course, I follow The Clone Wars!

Yeah, I like Mad, but probably only because I like Robot Chicken, and they both have the same idea of parodizing popular media culture.

I was interested in it because before I had an idea for a kids show that would make fun of the other shows. I still enjoy it’s clever parodies and jokes. It can be cheesy at times but I still like watching it.

It’s not perfect, but I have hope for Cartoon Network. Good original programs, retro checkerboard concept for the logo/bumpers, old show reruns, a variety of interests, etc. But live action still airs on the channel, and might be for a little while. Boomerang is not perfect, but still airs a lot of classics (unlike some international versions).

Nickelodeon is full of Spongebob, kidcoms and more Spongebob. And not too many classics on Nicktoons regularly. And other problems. Also some stuff about the logo annoys me. It’s supposed to be a mix between the splat and pinball logos, but it doesn’t reflect the network doing that. But a new The 90s Are All That block sounds like a saving grace. As well as Power Rangers. Their Teenick is even more teeny bopper-y.

Disney Channel, also full of (poorly produced) kidcoms, and about 6 or 8 shows. It’s animated shows on the other hand (Phineas and Ferb, Fish Hooks, and Cars Toons, Have a Laugh bumpers and P&F: Take Two if those count) are either at the least not that bad or AWESOME (Phineas & Ferb). Disney XD isn’t too better (sort of a male equivalent), but I have hopes for the upcoming animated shows on both channels (they’re still doing kids coma BTW in future shows). Let us forget HSM, HM and Jonas.
But recently, a new competitor in the ring, from the minds of Discovery Kids and Hasbro, The Hub enters the competiting kids channels.

NOTE: Some of this stuff isn’t (relevant?) in the UK (my country). Here we don’t have TeeNick, Adult Swim, Nick@Nite, a lot of other CN blocks, CN Real, or a better Boomerang. But we have stuff like a Cartoon Cartoons block (for the moment consisting of Ben 10, Chowder and Flapjack), Cartoonito (a Cartoon Network equivalent of Playhouse Disney and Nick Jr), Cartoon Network Too (pretty much a second Cartoon Network with some show differences) and Disney Cinemagic (old Disney shows with Disney movies and other stuff. Not too bad of a successor to Toon Disney).

I believe I might be one of few people who actually like the live action stuff on Cartoon Network. (At least, the scripted stuff, not the game shows and reality shows like (Dude, what would happen and destroy build destroy)

I guess so but again, it could be a whole lot worse. i.e. It could be a Boomerang with barely any classics. i.e. MY BOOMERANG! Please Boomerang UK, please make it so “It’s coming right back to you” actually means something. I may of took it for granted, but a Boomerang that’s on regular cable should have Hanna-Barbera for all to see! Another UK-Exclusive problem is that our Cartoon Cartoons block has no Cartoon Cartoons! Just Chowder, Flapjack and freaking Ben 10! Granted I like the first two shows, but if I stay up to watch Dexter’s Laboratory or Powerpuff Girls I better get them! CNUK, your rivals have Cinemagic and Nicktoons have old cartoons at night! We don’t even get our boxsets like the US’s CN Hall of Fame!
Sorry for a bit of ranting there, and for my double post.
So, thoughts on The Garfield Show, Fish Hooks, DC in break stuff (because they’re better than the kidcoms), Power Rangers, Penguins of Madagascar, TUFF Puppy and The 90s Are All That, anyone?

So, are there any Americans here who have Comcast? What channel is Boomerang? Because I can’t find it…

I don’t know what the point is. I remember I use to watch it everyday when I had Direct TV, but then their lineup changed to have modern stuff.

That Ucks-Say. Maybe there just has to be a catch to this channel idea nowadays. Maybe it just sounds like a super-premium-exclusive channel.
You know, what would you prefer? The UK Boomerang with little, rare classics, classic-RELATED shows and plain modern cartoons, or no Boomerang at all. This isn’t my answer but if my Boomerang was like the American boomerang (even with Hole in the Wall and (sigh) Ben 10 at night) I’d have less to rant about.
Wait… I could use a petition! Who here is from the UK?

I think they’re telling us that the new stuff is too old now, but it appears to be ‘more popular’ than the old old shows.

TRUE, nothing compares to the great programs they used to have: The Real Golden Era

I still love and remember awesome tv programs such as Thundercats, Digimon, Pokemon (when Misty was in there), Sakura Card Captors, Looney Tunes, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle, Jiban, The first Power Rangers, Liveman, The Super Mario Bros Show, Batman The Animated Series, The Classic 2D Mickey Mouse Cartoons, Buzz Lightyear Star Command, The Adventures of TinTin, The Muppets, Inspector Gadget, and many others, where is the creativity nowadays ???

Dude, I remember all of those shows! I missed those shows. Back when kids channels were actually enjoyable to watch.

I’m only 12 but let me list some shows I had…
Ed, Edd n Eddy, Dexter’s Laboratory, The Powerpuff Girls, Rugrats, Cow and Chicken, Billy and Mandy, Foster’s Home, Digimon (earlier on), Spongebob, Fairly Odd Parents, Ren and Stimpy*, Rocko’s Modern Life*, Animaniacs*, Etc. Nicktoons, Timon and Pumba, Recess, Lilo and Stitch, Looney Tunes, Tom and Jerry…
*Glimpses/reruns/nostalgia/etc.
I remember checkerboard CN, mixed nostalgia of Nickelodeon/Nicktoons, Toon Disney, Fox Kids/Jetix, etc. I didn’t really live in the 90s but I had some good stuff. This is just so I can say I didn’t grow up on stuff like Fanboy and ChumChum, recent Disney kid coms, Big Time Rush or everything being total crap.

I hope the 90s are all that get’s popular enough to get on real Nick so they new kids can see it.
