Anyone Got Summer Plans?

Not over here it isn’t. We’ve had about one week

of very cold weather and now it’s starting to warm up again well into the 70’s. It’s nice

now… so we’re feelin’ the sunny weather a little earlier than most.

Besides, don’t summer plans need to be made early in the year to properly prepare and/or make those

reservations ahead of time? That’s how I see it, anyhow…

Well, liek always we’ve had out up to your knees in snow

(literally) weater since about teh end of October. XD

Yeah, for trips and stuff, people usually plan

serve months ahead. Booking flights/hotels/or whatever else.

DoubleLatte- True, people do like to make reservations early, but despite that,

summer still seems a long way away, at least, over here. It’s been a while since we’ve had such cold weather,

although it is starting to let up a bit, thank goodness. And anyway, I think the trend of booking early had been

changing a bit over the past few years…Now there’s so many oppurtunities to book holidays at the last minute,

people that aren’t sure what’s happening with work or other situations just leave it until a week or so before

they want to go. Bit of a rush, though!

Hmm… I

don’t know. Typically summer vacation, for me, means expensive and long-distance traveling, which

would need some planning ahead of time, particularly in areas where tourism tends to

be at its highest during that time of year. You, for example, already had your plans laid out last year during

the holiday season for summer. Coming over to the states on a last-minute schedule probably wouldn’t pan out as

well for you as having planned at least a few months ahead. This is all from my

experience in traveling, but I don’t recommend leaving it until the last minute unless it’s one of those last

resort things.

It’s becoming more of the

trend now, though. I personally wouldn’t do it, because I’d be worried about being over-charged and other such

things, but lots of my friends book their holidays two weeks before, with only a general idea of where they

wanted to go.

In addition, I get to celebrate even more durring the summer because it is my mom’s,

sister’s, and dad’s birthday durring the summer.

At the moment, unless something absolutely crazy happens, I’ll be spending the end of July

and most of August in Perth, Australia as part of an exchange program. :smiley: I’m super-excited about it, obviously;

I love Australia, so I know that I’ll enjoy it, but I’ve never been any farther west than Ayers Rock, so it’ll

still be something new for me. Other than that, nothing definite. I was planning on going to the Space Camp in

Huntsville, Ala. (for the second year in a row :stuck_out_tongue:), but that was scheduled for during the time of the trip to

Australia, so right now I don’t know if we’re going to move it to earlier in the summer or just cancel it and

maybe do it another year.

PixarVixen: That is, for lack of a more creative

word, awesome! I’m planning on doing the same in the summer of '09, as the largest part of a post-high-school

cross-country road trip sort of thing. Hope you guys do get to do it!

DElf - Wow – you’ve been to the Space Camp?? What’s

it like? How many days do you get to stay there? What do you learn?

Heh – sorry, but I love science.

Have fun on your Australian trip, by the way! It sounds like you’ll have a blast.

This isn’t really a plan, but really a

summer goal. Learn how to drive before the next school year starts.

Mitch: Science is certainly a great thing to love. Space Camp is incredible; I

was there for the two-week session this past year, and two years before that I’d done the one-week one for

middle school-aged kids. I could say a lot about it, but I don’t want to hijack

the thread, so if you want me to describe it down to the last little minute detail, we could probably do it

through PM. But if anyone here ever gets a chance to go, believe me, you should!

Sounds very intersting, Delf! Both the Space Camp and

Austrailia.

I want to get off this continant at somepoint in my life. the farest I’ve been is Hawaii,

and that’s still technically North America.

I’m not going to France. It don’t have the funds, or the

time. I’m taking summer school. That way I can clear up two required classes before

school starts. And I won’t have to take gyms for more then a week or two, plus it’ll be in teh summer, outside

in the SUN. So, why not? And CALM, well It’s good to get rid of that one too. Opens up two more class slots. =D

Besides, my parents have kinda been hinting at anotehr cruise this summer. I love cruises. ^___^

Well not much really.

The only thing right now is the annual trip to Chicago for my Beatles convention! Beatlefest 2007, in August,

whoo! Other than that, nothing. Although my family’s been waiting to take a proper vacation since we havent done

that since 2004 in NYC. We’ve been toying with the idea of possibly a trip to New England (mostly in Boston)

another trip to Disney World (since we havent been since 1999) or going to a second Beatles convention in Las

Vegas in July since I’m finally old enough to gamble and we could see the Beatles Cirque de Soleil show,

LOVE.
