I still think the darkest was being trapped in Sid’s room with those strange mutant toys and his vicious dog Scud. The day care idea actually goes back to the earliest concept for Toy Story where it originally had Tinny from Tin Toy and a ventriloquist’s dummy that eventually became Woody, and the story would have ended with them being left in kindergarten as a toy paradise where they never get grown out of. Of course now we know that’s not how this one will end cause they made all the kids to be destructive and wild (which also has strong similarities to Tin Toy) so we’ll have to wait and see what happens to them afterwards.
Yes I do agree that the Tim Burton-esque horror in Sid’s room certainly was gruesome. But you see, in Toy Story even though they were pretty much in the belly of the beast, trying to avoid a toy’s death at the hands of Sid, at least they had Andy to go back home to. And in Toy Story 2, despite being almost ripped to shreds by the Prospector they toys could still back home to a loving Andy. What do they have in Toy Story 3 to return to? Nothing. Andy’s gone, and unless they can take the risk of trying to find a new owner that was just as loving as Andy (which as we’ve seen from both 1 and 2 a one-in-a-million chance) the Lord of the Flies daycare is their only choice. The only way I can see this ending happily for me (right now), [spoil]is if Andy brings the toys to college with him via Brave Little Toaster.[/spoil]
As the Prospector said “It’s a dangerous world out there for a toy.”
Yeah, that’s true. It’s still an unanswered dilemma as to what they’re supposed to do without Andy. One answer you would think of right away is if they ended up with Andy’s children, but that doesn’t look possible either since Andy is going to college and isn’t married. I wouldn’t be surprised though if it somehow ended that way.
I saw the new trailer, looks pretty good. One thing I’ve been trying to look for, is that evil Bear toy the people keep talking about. They say its going to be the new villain, I haven’t been able to spot it yet. Maybe woody runs into it or some thing, I’m thinking Woody saves Barbie from Andys little sister bag of dolls too, cuz she probaly has some and they said Barbie meets Ken in this one LOL…
We did have an official image of him on here from the coloring book “Ready, Set, Draw!”, but it had to be taken down. You can find it on Amazon if you haven’t seen it yet.
I actually have it saved on my computer, but since I know Lee Unkrich doesn’t want too many spoilers given away I’m just going to respect his wishes and not put it up again.
Saw the new trailer with Princess and the Frog. We started laughing before the trailer had even begun, remembering all the great stuff from 1 & 2. Trailer was very cool. From a sheer enjoyment perspective, it’s like we never left the characters for ten years, we were just giddy with anticipation. It will undoubtedly be one of the biggest films of 2010.
Look carefully at the big poster in the top left corner of the wall, and at the calendar above his desk. [spoil]Who do you think those cars look like? [/spoil]
[spoil]When I was a rabid fangirl of Boost, DJ, Wingo and Snot Rod, I kept on hoping that Pixar would put easter eggs related to those characters in their other creations. Later on I realized that they’re merely minor characters and that it wasn’t likely - up until now! Who’da thunk it?![/spoil]
Something I’d like to note…this film takes place IN THE FUTUUUURE!
On Andy’s board he has tickets for a concert from November 17th, 2009. His calendar in his room reads August. Thus, the film takes place in at least August 2010, if not later. Just an interesting thing to note.
