How many people like apple, sony, dell or hp (and other brands i didn’t list)
Which do you think is better and more popular???

Apple all the way…I had a Dell before and it gave me nothing but problems. I haven’t had any issues with my Mac yet. Plus, the OS is ten times better than any revision of Windows. Even though it’s more expensive, I say it’s worth it if you’re a heavy computer user.

I can tell you from experience that anything HP makes is a total piece of trash. We’ve had two HP computers (one laptop, one 27" touchscreen), various HP printers, and an HP LightScribe DVD drive - every single one of those devices have malfunctioned at one point or another, some with cases more severe than others. HP and Vista, especially, are a horrible combination. Do not put them together ever ever ever. We’ve had the HP TouchSmart’s hard drive die 3 times, the computer itself (not the hard drive) has crashed completely at least five or six times, it isn’t compatible with Win7 at all because of conflicting programs (and was a cause of one of the crashes), and the Blu-Ray player inside of it died, while we can still use CDs and DVDs, sometimes. (The Blu-Ray player is one of the main reasons we bought it.)

The other day it was giving us a BSOD (blue screen of death) for absolutely no reason; it’s been running smoothly for the past several months since we reformatted the HD back to its original settings and downgraded to Vista again (can’t tell you how many times we’ve had to wipe the HD clean) and installed some new RAM, so we still have absolutely no idea why it did that.

However, I’ve had my 21.5" iMac since August, and haven’t had a single issue with it. It’s been lagging on startup a little bit recently, so I’m not sure what’s up there, but other than that I honestly can’t think of anything to complain about with it. Well, other than the fact that it’s quite difficult to send files wirelessly from a Mac to a PC (harder that way than the other way around), which I need to do quite often because I use my Lenovo laptop with Win7 for a lot and like to have all my files in one place and not scattered across different computers. I’m also excited to have a computer with Bluetooth capability that works right out of the box without too much configuring. I was able to start sending files and ringtones to my new phone as soon as I turned the phone on without messing with configuration. Even their entry-level editing programs that come standard, like GarageBand and iMovie, are very good and do pretty much what I want (most of the time, I’ve only ever had issues with iMovie); perfect for getting me started editing video and music like I’ve always wanted to. The Mac is so much more user-friendly than Windows. I’d recommend it to anyone.

I have never had an Apple computer, unfortunately, as they are a little bit too expensive for my family.

My dad has a Toshiba laptop, which I am not a huge fan of, because it has slowed down alot lately.

My own netbook is an Acer Aspire. I’ve had it since Christmas and I have had no problems at all, at least since I un-installed Norton. 8D

I have an iPod Nano and an iPhone, though, so I do really love Apple’s products.

Personally I think Dell should have been replaced with Windows. :stuck_out_tongue: just saying

I’ve always wanted an Apple computer. I fully support and love Apple, but I can’t recommend or bash the product, because i don’t have one.

well i have never had a apple computer before (i have a sony laptop) but there ipods and iphones are by far the best in the world

As a Mac and PC Engineer I’m going to have to go with HP but only the business side of it. The home side of most PC manufacturers are awful, so my advice is if you ever want to buy a pre-built PC, buy a business machine not a home machine. Personally I would go custom build.

While Apple is very neat and efficient, and has one of the most stable OS’s to boot, it’s not all that great in a networking environment imo. They have also been having quite a few issues recently with their new product lines with regards to faulty GFX cards and CPUs (not entirely their fault it has to be said).

HP have been in the Server game for a while now and their Proliants are second-to-none (Thanks to Compaq). Their business desktops and laptops are very sturdy and reliable - I look after a school network of about 100+ laptops of which about half of them are HP, and not 1 of them has had a problem in the 3yrs I’ve been there. (The rest are a mix of mainly Acer & Fujitsu, and a few of them have been problematic)

Dell machines I wouldn’t touch with 2 barge poles glued end to end, and that’s about all I want to mention on this company.

Funny you should say that, cos’ I happen to be typing this on a Dell laptop at the mo’.

As a user of a Macbook Pro 15-inch 2006 model and a Dell Studio 15 bought in 2009, I can say that Apple is the better one of the two. The GUI is intuitive, there are no stupid ‘bloatware’ annoying you every two minutes (I keep getting bugged by Windows 7 and various pre-installed programmes on the Dell asking my permission to download updates), and the processing is more streamlined and bug-free (I have restarted my BMP less times than the Dell, and it’s older by three years!).

BUT there are caveats to Apple. Apple-fanatics might be offended, but I like to tell both sides to every story. Apple (thanks to Mr Jobs) is inherently evil. Why is that, you ask? Well, it is very exclusive, much like Sony. It locks you into a horizontal-integration with its product line; you buy an iPad, which requires iLife if you want to work on a laptop, which then leads you to download your music on iTunes, which is best played on an iPod, etc. Sony does the same thing with its PS3, PSP, and Vaio notebooks. It also doesn’t support Flash (with the iPad), or HDMI connection, or Blu-Ray players, because Jobs doesn’t like these technologies. You can’t mod the machines, or even change the batteries once they die, thanks to the Unibody design. The products are overpriced, you can get a much better machine with higher specs from a competitor for the same price. And they are a huge fan of ‘built-in obsolence’. Just bought an iPad? Expect its shelf-life to be less than a year, before we roll out the next model.

To be fair, other companies do these tactics to an extent, but none is more prevalent or blatent than Apple, who has a carte-blanche due to its ‘cool’ factor and uncritical fans. Add the fact that Jobs is a control-freak and that the products are ‘designed in California’ but ‘made in China’, and Apple loses much of its lustre.

BUT, if you have the cash, are a graphic-designer, or you want to try something new, I still highly recommend Apple. It’s less prone to Virus attacks (cos’ nobody thinks its OS is worth destroying yet), it is very user-friendly, and it’s just darn beautiful, software and hardware. If you’re after value-for-money, are used to Windows interface, or are an avid gamer, I’d recommend other PCs like HP or Alienware. Dell isn’t half-bad, my family has bought several Dell computers over the years, and for the price they cost, the specs are good (My Studio 15 has the sharpest and brightest screen of any computer in the makert), and they served us well while they lasted. But good luck with the Customer Service, and the build quality leaves much to be desired.

I chose Steve Jobs!!!

My computer is a Toshiba, and so far (almost two years) its been pretty satisfactory, but I do have minor complaints. However, out of all the computers I’ve used, I have to say my favorites are my friend’s Mac and the newer Dells. The Mac seemed to be a lot safer for someone who ventures out into the darker depth of the web like we do (of course, as they grow more popular, that will change as new viruses are written for them), and the features on it are great. Final Cut Pro, for example, only works on Macs. However, I’m a PC loyalist. The PCs are cheaper, more familiar, and easier to use, in my opinion.

I voted Apple. But it doesn’t matter to me so much as I can use a word processor and get online. I own an iPod Touch, but my laptop is an Hp. I’m varied.

How many people have the itouch 4g???
