Are All the Air Bud Sequels and Spin-offs Necessary?

I was reading about Air Bud on Wikipedia and the series has had five movies and a sixth one in the works. Then they made a spin-off series called Air Buddies which has three movies with two more in the works! And by the end of this year, two Air Buddies movies will have been released in the same year! And listen to the name of the newest Air Buddies movie. Fairy Buddies: Puppy Magic. That’s probably the stupidest name for a movie ever.

I loved the first Air Bud movie, and maybe even the second one, but this is getting ridiculous. What is your opinion?

Fairy Buddies: Puppy Magic? Give me a bowl, I need to hurl. Wow, that’s pretty much the most terrible thing I’ve ever heard of (well, besides a sequel to a video Binquedo movie or something) Yeah, they’re totally milking this thing for every penny they can, it’s kind of sickening. The first Air Bud was a good movie, the second one was okay, but this is getting retarded.

11 movies total  Fairiy Buddies: puppy Magic? 8D Please stop!!!

Oh my god! :open_mouth: Don’t even think about mentioning those films! I’m guessing the first one was Ok, but 11 movies!!! That’s just as much as all of those darn Pokemon movies, which shall never be written about again…

Ugh.

I had the pain of enduring one of the recent outings 2 years ago, in my WV History class. I swear, that teacher is out of it. He showed us the one where the Air Bud puppies go to some arctic region, I don’t remember much of it.

Thankfully, movies like this generally just have around 2 weeks of commercials for the movie, so it’s easy to ignore them.

Sometimes.

Don’t even think of reminding me about those…

Actually, the Air Bud movies have contributed greatly to cinematic history. The utter genius of having a trained dog, of all things, star in his own movie is the most single-minded ingenuity since the concept for Plan 9 From Outer Space. And the plots…oh, the plots that intricately mix warmth and love with despair and hatred… Shakespeare himself would have wept when that beloved dog puts on his jersy. And lest we forget those unforgettable offspring, I shall mention them now. For as interesting Air Bud’s life is, a peak of film has arose with what critics call the greatest spin-off in any existence and form. Air Bud played soccer, but Air Buddies go to outer space, reaching depths never before imagined. Pure. Brilliance.
If you have not seen the Air Bud/Buddies saga, please rent all 11 films, for you will have a much greater time than watching all 11 Star Trek films! Bah!

That was fun to write!

Well, I find the Air Bud series cute and enjoyable, and AirBuddies, the first spin-off, was adorable. It included a theme of the puppies being separated because the family can’t handle that many, so the puppies run off together. It includes a moral of love, separation, being strong, sacrifice, and loneliness.

But as the sequels to it accumulate, it only causes me to roll my eyes even more. Now it’s predictable. Every new one will involve the question “how do we get home this time?” and the theme of working together again. And the puppies meet again, so the theme of separation from the first AirBuddies movie has lessened. And every new one probably adds another new kid and another new dog. :unamused:

I mean, it’s cute but sometimes it’s a waste of time. The theme of being cute isn’t enough. In my opinion, it’s okay to watch if there’s nothing else to watch, as long as you don’t keep your expectations too high.

Fairy Buddies? What next? Time Buddies?

This is just a perfect example of a movie that didnt need a sequel or in this case sequelS…

Fairy Buddies : Puppy Magic ? :open_mouth:

Wow, some people at Disney must be running low on ideas if the have to combine Air Bud with something like Tinkerbell. Hope that isn’t the case though. I hope it’s the last one too. Too many sequals for those puppies and Disney is going to start looking foolish again, like when they kept making direct to video sequals to their classics.

Just keep in mind guys:

It isn’t at Land Before Time level yet.

To quote Phineas and Ferb, “Yes, yes they are.”

I’m hoping the rugby trilogy is good.

You might as well say, “Are All the Dr. Dolittle Sequels and Spin-offs Necessary?”

Why are these things necessary? Because it allows movies from the 90’s to stretch and stretch and stretch.

Yes, because to Disney, it’s all about the money.

Yes.
They are very necessary.

You see, our entire economy depends on these movies. Do you know how many jobs depend on these movies? First, there are the people who make them. Next, there are the factory workers who make the boxes/discs. Then, there’s the truck drivers who deliver the DVDs to stores all over America. We can’t survive without these movies!

[spoil]I was just trying to mock the ridiculous question. Of course they’re not necessary! What kind of question is that?[/spoil]

666 has 3 6’s. 3 multiplied by 666 = 1998. Air Bud 2 was released in 1998…coincidence??

Woah. That’s so weird!! 8D

It is. 8D That kinda stinks for anyone born in 1998…

Lucky me. 1995 for the winning, baby!!! :smiling_imp: 8D

Yes. And it will be about Buddy going back in time to prevent all the stupid sequels from being made.

“Buddies,” means that is would deal with Buddy’s puppies, not with Buddy himself.

And there are Air Bud sequels that are better than the first film…like “Golden Receiver” and “World Cup.”

That said, I would DEFINITELY watch a movie called “Time Buddies.” Space Buddies is bleh…but time, that would be awesome.
