Are you excited for the sequel?

I am!

Cars was a fun movie, and its message was, like Ratatouille, very abstract. The whole industrial movement that causes people to move so fast in their lives and forget to slow down and appreciate the great things around them (and worse, abandoning and discarding them) is a significant representation of how H-wood is similarly trying to cash in as many big-profit movies, ignoring those other movies that still retains in old methods, telling good stories through relatable characters in an amazing journey.

Also, I love cars (automobiles), and the movie was, like The Incredibles, a fast-paced action adventure that keeps your heart pumped, while at the same time, slows down to relay the abovementioned message to the audience.

Let’s not forget the songs. Entering the theater with “Real Gone” playing has never been more exciting than a real NASCAR event.

Cars 2, however… Well, first of all, it’s a sequel, and it’s kinda made side-by-side with another sequel (Toy Story 3), giving me an impression that Pixar is suffering the sequel syndrome as well, considering no other Pixar stuff members, so far as I know, was made known to share the same ‘no sequel without good story’ spirit as John Lasseter did.

Moreover, several of the voice-overs have passed on in life, as grieving as it was for us, and replacement voice-actors were said to be hired. I just don’t feel right having to know that one of my favorite Cars characters, The Hudson Hornet, will have a different voice in the second film, if he is to appear at all.

So, as excited as I am for two Pixar sequels over the next two to three years, I am going to say, ‘So-so,’ because there’s a chance that it won’t have the same spirit Pixar movies always have, but since no Pixar films have truly disappointed me yet, that probability is slim to none.

They’ve found the replacements! Who are they!?

They were ‘said’ to be hired, from what I overheard. :stuck_out_tongue: But now that I check Wiki, guess I was wrong.

Even so, if they are to write ‘Doc’ out of the sequel, it would be as much a disappointment as casting a new voice-actor for him, unless he is constantly referenced to throughout the film by Lightning and the gang or make a good number of ‘silent cameos (either which still sounds rather impractical and lame to me, however).’

Okay then. I always get too overexcited about anything that deals with Cars. XD

They better not do any of the things you mentioned above. I would hate for Doc to be cut out for he is my fave character (him and Lightning that is). He is an important character for the first movie and it wouldn’t be right to just scrap him (ignore the pun there XD). The refering to Doc thing is also like casting him out. I wouldn’t like that. Neither would I like the “silent cameos” for it would make him as minor as Red, the only other silent character. :frowning: I know some people think that like his actor, Doc ends up dying between the original movie and the sequel. :frowning: Poor Doc. The best idea for him is to replace Paul Newman, but like I had said in a previous post, it’ll be hard for Doc is a part of Mr. Newman.

I don’t know if the whole Doc situation would really make me angry, which it seems like it is to you guys. As long as his voice kinda sounds the same, I’m fine with it. Like I said before, the only thing that would really bother me is the absence of Radiator Springs. I just watched the movie (for like the 400th time :B ) and even though I would never think this possible, I think I am as excited for this film as I am Toy Story 3 And that’s saying something, looking at my username  There’s almost exactly two years! I hope they go by fast!

It doesn’t exactly make me angry, but if they did a suckish job at replacing him, then it would. Or if they cut him out.

You know, the whole “leaving Radiator Springs” thing may seem like a problem to you, but not for me! I think it keeps things fresh.

Off topic: I love that signature!

Thanks  I just love that small town so much…I’m sure exploring the rest of the world of Cars would be okay though. I was just wondering if they are going to use real places like France or fake place, kinda like in the scene where Mack is driving towards Cali and the road signs say things like Truck Town. I hope they do explore the real world though, I’m curious to see what the Eiffel Tower looks like in Cars world

Me too! I hope Lightning and Sally kiss while they’re in Paris. That is if Sally comes along for the ride.

Actually, I think the departure from Radiator Springs is necessary, as a Pixar sequel, IMO, is made to explore new ideas and a new story that relays a new, meaningful message that could be relate by the whole entirety of humanity… Yeah.

Oh, and I wasn’t angry, either. Note the repetitive usage of the term, “disappointment” and “chance.” Just a chance of disappointment, Lightning, and Thunder, that’s all. xD

Typically the sequel is never as good as the original, with the exception of Termintor2. Pixar did a good job with Toy Story 2; I hope they can Make a sequel for Cars with as creativity and humor as the first one.

Can anyone fill me in on what it is about? That is if anyone knows yet?

I beg to differ.

Aliens, Godfather 2, The Lost World: Jurassic Park, Spider-Man 2, Superman 2, X-Men 2, Scream 2, Friday The 13th: Part 2, A Nightmare On Elm Street 2, and let’s not forget the biggest of them all…

THE FREAKING DARK KNIGHT.

Wasn’t that like try 5 or 6 though… o_0

Try 2 for Christopher… :unamused: And wasn’t TDK and Batman Begins supposed to be a reboot, thus being entirely unrelated to their failed predecessors (save the 1989 classic)?

It’s about Mater and Lightning exploring the rest of the world. Going on one big racing adventure

Cough Cough, ya no… I beg to differ with your beg to differ on that one…

crunch knuckles Alright, it’s on, dude. No one disses The Lost World and gets away with it. It was way better than JP1 by actually having the characters being relatable, emotional, and 3Dimentional. BEG TO DIFFER THAT ONE! DX

I mean, I could understand if some do not consider The Dark Knight as the first sequel to the reboot Batman movie series, but The Lost World was practically universally known as much better than Jurassic Park 1. Only few noobs chose to mock it. Trying to understand the flaws of this great Spielberg sequel is like trying to understand the flaws of Toy Story 2, I would say.

Sure, maybe compared to the novelization, the film is not up to standard - I wouldn’t know, never really touched the book - but let’s not forget what we’re discussing here; movie sequels that are better than the first predecessor, and it is in my (as well as a hundred few more millions’) belief that it very easily tops the cake.

Hey! We shouldn’t start a fight on this site! It’s not meant for fightning! Besides, how did we get on the topic of other sequels. This is all about being excited for Cars 2. Trust me, some members have gotten in major trouble for fighting. So don’t start! Let’s get back on topic, shall we?

Fighting? Who’s fighting? I thought we were simply having heated debates about different opinions using phrases of seemingly hostile appearances?

And as for the off-topic-ness, aZnCdn started it. :stuck_out_tongue:

Nah, just kidding. Comparing Pixar films to other films from time to time is healthy, I would say. But yeah, I guess it’s time to get back on topic. Sorry guys.
