I can’t wait! :astonished:

January??? Bu…but… that’s after Christmas! I can’t wait that long!

Wait a minute, yes I can! I’ve waited 3 years for Spore (Didn’t turn out nearly as cool as I thought it would), and this is in the end/start of year holidays! Hurrah!

Yeah, they probably will put a tin with it. I’m glad there’s a 2 disc edition because they didn’t do that with Ratatouille…

That’s way too long, and I’ll be in Sing by then. I don’t know when Sing’s release date is, hopefully it’s before I return to Oz from the summer break. Thanks for the heads-up, nathan!

Well, the final cover for the single disc looks like this:

and the cover for the Blu-ray is this:

they haven’t got the final cover for the 2-disc:

bit it’s obviously going to look like this (i made it):

They’re not much different to the other region ones though are they?
:sunglasses:

You gotta love Australian classification logos, they take up a lot of space compared to other countries.

Another thing that I don’t like about the OFLC logos is that the colours don’t make any sense. I think that the colours should be something like this:
E (Exempt from classification): Bright Green
G (General): Green
PG(Parental Guidance): Blue
M(Mature): Yellow
MA15+(Mature Accompanied): Orange
R(Restricted): Red
X(Pornographic): Pink? Phisically burning when you touch it? I’m not sure about this one.

Don’t they make DVD players these days that try to compensate for it by lowering the pitch and slowing the movie slightly? I could’ve sworn I’ve heard about them somewhere?

Let’s hope that they use this method instead to convert it to PAL:

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Telecine#2 … 3_pulldown

Well, we can only hope, but I still wouldn’t risk buying the US version. I don’t even understand why the formats need to be converted to PAL from NTSC anyway, unless you have an ancient TV. I have a PAL TV (obviously) and DVD player, and the only thing I needed to do was unlock the region code (by Googling for a code sequence), and all of my US DVDs have played perfectly fine.

I don’t think those coloured ratings are that bad. The way they used to have them looks a bit messier on a DVD. They need to have them like that so they stand out and people make sure their watching the right thing for the right occasion or something like that. anyway, here’s the final cover for the 2 disc edition (it’s a tad different than what I said it might be):

:sunglasses:

Oh, so it looks like we’ll be getting only a 2-disc, for some reason. I wonder if it will be the Disney File or the extras disc that will be missing.

It might just be the digital copy, Rachel. That was the case with ours, so technically, you end up not missing out on anything (I think!).

Ah, ok. Thanks lizardgirl. =)

Target is having a WALL•E DVD pre-order deal if you pre-order the DVD before January 10. You get the DVD + a 2009 calendar + WALL•E and EVE figurine set. I didn’t see this info in the catalogue, only on a cardboard advertisement in the sound and vision section. There will probably be something about it in the next catalogue coming, I hope. I didn’t get a good look at it 'cause I had other shops to go to, so didn’t see how many discs were included, I assume it’s a 2-disc.

But yeah, that’s pretty rad. Even though I hate the PAL conversion, the quality should be higher for when I make graphics on the computer plus I’ll get a calendar for next year, of which I haven’t purchased yet - woot! I’ll keep you updated on any other deals going on, too.

well, i don’t need the calendar…i just got it for Christmas!

Me too, nathan. =)

But here’s the pamphlet for anyone else who’s interested in the offer:

It doesn’t look like the offer’s with the 2 disc. I don’t think it’s even the eco packaging. It’s still an alright deal though.

then you would have to have a repeated frame every now and again (ie a frame that lasts 2 frames to make up the 25fps) as proper speed is 23.976fps or 24(to round it). the americans get 3:2 pulldown which is the right speed & pitch but there is a very slight jump.

heroes makes me laugh because the intro+voices to that are sped up, and when i watch the american trailers online i notice a big diffence.

or ratings are ok size, and they make sense:

apart from this one (why blue?):

Yeah, it’s a real pain hearing the pitch differences that occur after conversion. Thanks for posting the info about the Austalian release. Interestingly, the Australian Target logos are different than the US ones (in the US, it’s all caps letters: TARGET).

Believe it or not, Target and TARGET are two separate companies.

Also, Big W has this offer where you get an extra disc or something when you pre order WALL•E from there.
