Hello everyone it’s gleefan1 here
I just got the news from my friends, that Avatar by James Cameron is being re-Released at IMAX and in Digital 3D.
James Cameron, has gotten many people asking to see more of Pandora, so, James Cameron did.
The reason being of Avatar being released again, is because theres 8 Minutes of footage coming back into the theater.
The date for the Re-Release is August 26th, Pritty sure that might be just for Australia.
So what do you think of Avatar being Re-Released? Is it a scam? Is it worth seeing Avatar again for the extra 8 minutes at IMAX?
Let me know
I haven’t seen Avatar, but it certainly does not need a re-screening. No movie except for Star Wars and Raiders of the Lost Ark needs a re-screening. Avatar came out, what, in December of 2009? I’m just saying…
Yeah, I think this is overkill. I’m definitely not going to see it, but I’m sure it’ll make hundreds of millions anyway.
for 8 minutes of extra footage? Thats like paying £1.10 for each new minute,
Cameron is milking that cash cow
8 minutes? That’s crazy. I am NOT going to see that.
I guess it’s okay for the die-hard fans of Avatar, but I certainly won’t be seeing it. I was already dragged to see it 3 times in theaters, and 2 1/2 hours of 3D gives me a headache.
IDK y, but I might go see it. I didn’t want to see it when it first came out, but for some reason i really liked it.
I did eventually see Avatar about a week ago for the first time. It was on my dinky TV screen, so it wasn’t too impressive. It’s not being re-screened for its story, I can tell you that. Yes, for the eye-candy it deserves to be re-screened, but not much more.
8 minutes? Naaaah.
IncredigirlVirginia, yes. Both the series, as far as I’m concerned.
I knew some smart people would agree with me!! You’re officially in my little group of friends, okay?
Okay.
SW and IJ > Avatar
Hey HH and Virginia, don’t kill me for saying this but…I prefer Avatar over the Indiana Jones movies. Well, actually, just the first two and the newest one. I really liked The Last Crusade. Maybe it’s because I was so bored I watched all four of the IJ movies in one day, and therefore didn’t get a chance to fully appreciate them. 8 hours of movies in one day…no wonder I got a headache
Anyway, I may have liked the movie, but like I said, I won’t be seeing it again in theaters. I own it, and my TV is a plasma, so I don’t need to see it again on the big screen. 3D, much like movie-binges, gives me a headache (see above).
Raiders of the Lost Ark was a pretty awesome movie! It would certainly destroy Avatar today just because the story is so much better.
You don’t want to see Avatar. The story is kind of cheesy, and all PIXAR movies are SO MUCH better!
gleefan1: The IMAX Sydney cinema website is already accepting pre-bookings for the re-release of Avatar!
Personally, I’m not surprised. They re-released TDK in time for the Oscars, and I knew about the whole extra 8-minutes (which I thought would be on the re-released DVD and Blu-Rays alter this year). Apparently, there’s more footage to that scene where Jake and Neytiri make-out… (It’s much better with those ‘jubilees’ attached to each other! ).
I’m ambivalent. It is a very good movie, and I’m not as perturbed by people saying “Oh… it’s a Fern Gully rip-off! Oh… it’s a left-wing environmentalist movie! Oh… it’s two-and-a-half-hours of Neyriti’s butt!” Puh-leeze, what a buzzkill.
Avatar is original, yet familiar. Breathtaking, yet heartbreaking. Natural-looking, yet CGI-enhanced. But all awesome. I don’t know whether I’ll consider seeing it one more time, as I have already seen it twice in 3-D and 2-D, but not yet in IMAX. So the 8 extra minutes and the ticket price will be the deal breaker for me.
Oh, and by the way, I love Raiders of the Lost Ark and Pixar movies (I want to see Temple of Doom and the Last Crusade! Crystal Skull sucked, though). But my point is great movies and predictable storylines don’t have to be mutually-exclusive.
Naw, EG27, It’s all good On this forum, the rule is that you like Pixar, not Virginia’s list of faves TDIT, totally agree about Kingdom of the Crystal Skull! It was elements from the first 3, toned down. That, and Marian is my least favorite Indy girl
I think we need to get prints out there…widely distributed…without being recalled.
Such a thing hasn’t happened since the age of B movies. But this is a film that can ONLY be seen on the big screen if at all.
It’d be the first since Rocky Horror.
(Note: I hate Avatar. I just think the 5 minutes of visual entertainment before you notice the bad writing is worth a couplea dimes.)
Really? Did Avatar not make as much money as they wanted??? I enjoyed seeing once in 3D in the theaters, that was fun. But I hate sitting through movies that long (except Gone With the Wind!)
