Avatar: The Last Airbender

So, anybody watch this? I find it to be one of the most mature action cartoons since the days of Gargoyles and Batman. The characters are memorable, the story is gripping and the art style is beautiful. Not to mention it has a nice soundtrack as well!

So, anybody Awed for Aang? Invigorated for Iroh? Keen for Katara? Stoked for Sokka? Thrilled for Toph? Zapped for Zuko?

At the first start of the first season or so I thought that Avatar was going to be a mockery of anime/manga-like style, emphasising on eyes and the like…but gave it a chance.
Around into the second season, and beyond, the show has gotten a HECK of allot better. At first it was good fun, and now it’s getting more innovative, stylish, and the plot is become so in depth and sometimes dark, that it in itself may not be right in the “category” of nicktoons, but nonetheless it has been good.

Out of them all, I’d have to say Zuko would be my favorite character. A young man first seen as an antagonist, but morely becomes as human as anyone. Secluding his right decisions to try his best to restore his own honor, as well as the respect of his own father. And even more so recently, he expresses his struggle with the decisions he’s made in his life and how they come to affect him deeply. I recall in perhaps the most recent episode, where he had reclaimed what he, thought, wanted (his father’s respect and his rightful throne…forgot to mention, he IS son of a lord of a nation). But when asked why he was angry, and who he was angry at and claims that it is he himself, saying he doesn’t know right from wrong anymore.
He reminds of another guy I know heh heh…

But overall, Avatar may look clumbsy and comedic sometimes, but, especially recently, the story dives into good parts and shows great development.

I love this show! Unfortunately, I’ve gotten a bit behind on it of late. I’ll have to catch up in reruns .

Personally, I like the mix of anime and American animation influences in this and Teen Titans.

I like the fluidity and…“gracefulness” isn’t quite the right word, but you know what I mean…of the action sequences.

I also like the combined species animals.

Zuko does have a very interesting story arc.

I love avatar. I love the idea and story and ccharacters, and of course, the action.

Avatar blurs the line between anime and (US) domestic cartoons until it becomes irrelevant.

I love watching this show, caught it from the very begining and been watching it up until now.
