Avatar: the Last Airbender

YOU BETTER!! o___o

The first two episodes were released today:
korranation.com/

So far it seems better than the original in almost every way. I can’t wait to see more.

Is the series airing. I don’t watch Nick anymore so I didn’t know. Better start recording episodes.

I kind of like the Legend of Korra, but I kind of don’t…everything’s different, which is kind of a good thing, but it doesn’t have the same “feel”–and that feel is what made the original series so enjoyable.

I don’t exactly like Korra, either. She’s a cocky, big jerk…I know she’s supposed to be opposite of Aang, but in the second episode she didn’t learn her lesson like she should’ve.

I want to see her (with all her water, fire and earthbending) to be beaten in a fight by Tenzin.

I just started the first episode of the original Avatar series yesterday, enjoying it a lot so far

I saw the first ep! It was gratifying to see everything we loved come back…but altered, especially that our 12-year old hero boy is now a 16 year old girl. With hair. But a great start to the series, with lots of references for our viewing fan pleasure, and such precious gems of lines (I personally love Tenzin’s ‘Don’t bring my mother into this!!’) haha.
I’m excited for more. Korra rules.

Has anyone been watching Korra regularly? I think it’s one of the best things on TV right now. Every episode is so intense.

I haven’t seen Legend of Korra yet, but my best friend Eric despises it and hopes it gets cancelled.

I’ve been watching it…oh WOW! It’s actually pretty good. Some of the characters I hate, though…it definitely keeps you watching!

What? Its fantastic. The storyline is incredibly mature for a Nick cartoon, the characters are complex and almost every episode leaves me with my jaw on the floor. Care to elaborate on what he hates about it?

I’m real late to the party, but I just started watching this earlier this week. :V

I like what I’ve seen so far, but haven’t seen enough for me to say I really really love this show or anything. I don’t have Netflix, and the Nick website only lets me watch so many full episodes, so I’m kinda stuck right now and can’t watch any more. I’m still only in “Book One” of the series so far. Halp??? need links to places I can watch it??? ;____;

But yeah, basically what sold me on watching the rest of the series was the part in one of the first episodes where Aang is trying to escape the big Fire Nation ship or whatever, and he accidentally creeps up on Uncle Iroh sleeping and then when he goes to leave he’s like “sorrrryyyyy” but his friggin’ mouth when he says that omfg I wasn’t even prepared for it and couldn’t stop laughing.

omg I am so lame please ignore me. xD

little_chef_eva09: Oh my goodness! You love this show too?!? AWESOME!!!

I was actually doing a whole marathon of Book One today with my brother on our Xbox. If you’d like, you could probably watch it on YouTube, but you would need to search it in parts. Unfortunately, Netflix is the only way I know to get full episodes besides the Nick website. You could also get the 3 seasons on DVD, but it does cost money.

And yeah, I saw that moment today too! It is soooooooo funny!

Just to bump this thread, I just heard that all 3 seasons are now available to watch on Nick.com. The only full episode they don’t have is The Siege of the North: Part 2. Hopefully they’ll be able to fix that. (maybe it was put with the first part?)

Thoughts on the first season of Korra? I thought it was great, but the characters and their development got muddled halfway through. The amount of action and suspense almost makes up for it. The story of [spoil]Tarrlok and Noatak[/spoil] is one of the best bits ever in Avatar. I just wish the ending was a bit less tidy, and wish that [spoil]Korra and Mako didn’t hook up[/spoil].

Overall, I did think The Legend of Korra was good. It does feel like the whole story was wrapped up, but the discovery of [spoil]Amon being a bloodbender and having Republic City fooled was both surprising and not surprising at the same time. It shocked everyone, but at the same time, there was that hint of doubt that he was making up the scam all along.[/spoil] Of course, the story is pretty original with characters that haven’t been seen before, so I hope they’re able to top that in Book 2. (if they do make one)

As for pairings, I really don’t care who ends up with who, as long as it’s canon.

I have a feeling that Book 2 will be called Energy… Korra’s gotten all 4 elements at her disposal now so it sort of makes sense for her to pursue the mysterious 5th kind of bending.

Then again, [spoil]she only just airbent for the first time, so she hasn’t exactly mastered it yet.[/spoil]
Book 2 being Energy would also work if you look at The Last Airbender and Legend of Korra together - we’ve gone through Water, Earth and Fire in TLA, then Air in LOK. Energy seems to make the most sense.

I’d like to know if there’s some sort of sub-type of air bending - fire has lightning bending, earth has metal bending and water has blood bending… I dunno what an air one would be though. Light bending?

^^ Yeah, I’d like to see something for the Airbenders too, but I doubt it’ll ever happen since it hasn’t yet.

But honestly in Korra, I wish [spoil]the final battle had been lost. They weren’t prepared to win anything. I wanted a bad guy to span a couple books like TLA did, even though there’s only going to be two seasons. And how exactly will there be a season two?.. It just all tied up so nicely. I wish it hadn’t, I really do. And I wish we could see some place other than Republic City.[/spoil]

I recently heard that Korra has been renewed for three more books.

I heard Legend of Korra is good and all, but watching something Avatar without the trio (if you know what I mean) related just seems too painful. But I’m excited to see the new Evil Dead movie without Ash in it so…

But still. Aang, Katara, and Sokka are what made Avatar: The Lastbender the great show that it is. Maybe I’ll give Legend of Korra a shot when it comes out, but I don’t know.

I really like Legend of Korra. I loved how they updated the world to make it fresh and new, and I liked how it jumped into an ongoing storyline much more quickly than Airbender. I think that Amon was a good villain and I like most of the new characters. I felt they were a bit hasty with the romance sub-plot- [spoil]I hadn’t even realised Korra was supposed to have had a crush on Mako until the announcer guy said it at the start of episode 5[/spoil]. I also wish that they had addresed whether or not non-benders were actually being oppressed. The only times we definitively see evidence of this is after the Equalists start attacking everyone. And Mako and Bolin are poor, whilst Asami is rich, so I never really got the impression that they were being oppressed until after Amon showed up. On top of that, in the first series we saw lots of powerful non-benders. I think the writers should have cleared it up, because a lot of people think that Korra was in the wrong for fighting them (even though they were pretty much terrorists).

I think Korra maybe would have benefited from a couple more episodes to stop it from feeling rushed in places. And I can’t help but think that the ending was probably written before the creators knew whether or not a second series had been commissioned. But overall it was a worthy successor to Avatar and I hope that next season will be even better.
