the creative office space at Pixar is amazing! Pixar animators design their own animating workspace to help encourage a creative learning enviroment. I’ve seen pictures of tiki hut offices, one with a hidden door behind a bookcase, and even a lego castle office. Just another reason to want to work at pixar photos and full article may be seen here: http://thedreamofpixar.wordpress.com/2011/03/02/who-ever-said-office-space-had-to-be-boring/
please submit here any other photos of Pixar offices that are just too creative to even imagine
I always love getting inside looks into Pixar, and especially the work spaces, where, as Ken would say, the Magic Happens. I’m glad there’s a thread is dedicated to this.
What’s with the lack of replies here? I’m sure if any of us have watched “The Pixar Story” by Leslie Iwerks, the one thing we were enamored with aside from the films themselves was this stunning alcove of creativity which Pixar carved out in Emeryville.
I wanted to share a couple of links/stories I found.

This is the public project page for Pixar’s Headquarters on the website of DPR Construction, who (obviously) constructed the building. If you do a little searching, you might hear things that make DPR’s corporate culture sound a little similar to Pixar’s. Great minds think alike, yeah?

Apparently Pixar has just opened up a new building where projects in the earlier phases of production will be housed (moving them to the first building when production ramps up). Again, I’m a huge fan of the natural light sources which they are engineering into the buildings- beautiful glass walls and ceilings, and wide open spaces.

A short post about how the Pixar building is Steve Jobs’ “brainchild.” Steve was often at odds with Pixar management before the release of Toy Story, but it seems he’s done something right. (And no, Steve’s not claiming credit. Even Lasseter and Catmull have readily acknowledged his significant contribution to the design of their new headquarters).
When my friend and I lurked around Pixar a couple months ago, we saw the new building under construction. It’s awesome to see Pixar expanding, on their own home grounds and in Canada!
