How do you suppose Jack-Jack manages to keep
from burning his hair and clothes off when he engulfs his body in flames?
I’m no scientific genius, but I
have a theory. I think Jack-Jack forms a protective layer/barrier over his body beneath the flames. I wouldn’t
say this if his hair was fireproof (which is quite possible because he is a super),
but his diaper never burns off either. The only way it could be protected from the flames is if Jack-Jack forms
something over it.
I’d love to hear your input or if you have any ideas of your
own.

Well, I
think that his hair and clothes were immune to burning up. I think this because Jack-Jack was born with Super
powers. His skin and hair was protected to begin with. It is immune you can say.
As for the diaper, I
don’t know why that didn’t catch on fire. My best guess is that Edna Mode made this diaper for Jack-Jack. After
all, the only character in The Incredibles I know that has acess to fire proof material is E herself.
Yes, but throughout nearly the entire movie, Jack-Jack’s family
didn’t know he had powers. Therefore, they wouldn’t have had a reason to ask Edna to craft something special
for him to wear.

Yeah, PV’s right- they didn’t know about it at all, so therefore Edna didn’t
know.

Interesting theory. I am quite puzzled by this factor, as
well; although, the fact that he is a super does make him just one notch up from
other children his age.
I suppose that I will have to agree with The Star
Swordsman on this and say that little Jack-Jack was simply born with the ability to ward off the
flames from underneath. Either that, or this rather ludicrous theory:
Remember when, in
Jack-Jack Attack, Jack-Jack “zoomed” to the fridge and loaded himself up
with milk/juice? Well…I wonder if he is able to keep his body cool when “under fire” simply by
drinking a cold substance/liquid before blowing up? Not that we ever saw him do this before he turned into a
fireball in front of Kari, but it’s a theory…
PV: I
guess E came to see the Parrs durring a baby shower, and E presented them with her own “custom made”
diapers. Just a theory.
I never really thought about it. I figured his hair
& skin would be fine cuz he’s got super powers and all. But I never really thought about his clothes…
I wonder if
all his other clothes are fire proof.

The diapers might be flame retardent by design in the
interest of safety - a layer of ummm… wetness (which was certainly plausable) may have aided this.

Dash - So…are you saying that Jack-Jack has to…uhh…wet his pants in order to
keep the fire from burning his diapers to ashes?

No - just that the diaper may be flame retardent by design. The wetness would just help if that were the case
Besides - it won’t matter after that anyway when E starts making his outfits.

Dash - Ahh…I see. I figured as much – heheh. Just making sure…
The wetness of the diaper could
diminish the strength of the flame though.
ha!
So true! I didnt think of that either
Then again, the fire could quickly dry up the water absorbsion.

Actually, many diapers have a fluid inside of them that is fireproof. IHANI why, though. XD
A113: That is intresting to know.
