I mean who else didn’t grow up on veggie tales? Seriously. If you heard about some of their history on the dvd bounus features it’s really funny, and interesting. Even some of the older veggie tales are really good. The newer ones aren’t really as good but they still have a since of humor.

I’ve seen some of its footage a couple of times when I was walking through the mall with my parents throughout my youth. Other than that, I only know that they look like, well, veggies…
I grew up with Veggies Tales! Haven’t watched them in ages so I don’t know how the newer ones compare to the older ones I used to watch. I always liked Silly Songs with Larry. “Everybody’s got a water buffalo; Yours is fast but mine is slow; Oh, where we’d get them, I don’t know; But everybody’s got a water buffalooooo!”
Oh my grog it’s the water buffalo song!!! I watched VT in my CCD class (lessons about God and what not) and lots of kids in my class laughed! Thanks for the link Hannahmation. Oh, and by the way…
“Everybody’s got a baby kangaroo!! Your’s is pink but mine is blue…”
“AAAAHHHGGGG!!!”
Edited for shouting. – Mitch
When I was young, I loved VeggieTales. They included wonderful characters with great life lessons about God and his teaching.
Technically, Bob the Tomato would be a fruit. But ‘FruityTales’ doesn’t exactly sound right…
And no, I haven’t watched a single episode. Though the Pirates movie intrigues me somewhat.
BIG IDEA! <3! I love these guys so much. My dream job is to work at either Pixar or with these guys. xD
I watched VT all the time! My elementary school made us watch them when they didn’t know what to do with us.
Now my little sister watches them, so I’ve seen some of their new stuff also.
Haha! I love VeggieTales and have ever since I was a kid! I love collecting old DVDs from things I’ve seen in my childhood, and VeggieTales are one of them!
What if Pixar merged wih Big Idea?
Lightning McQueen: Kachow! God made you special!
Bob: Wow you have good animation.
Lightning McQueen: You don’t have such bad animation yourself for being so low-budget!
Remy: (sniffing Larry the Cucumber) This would go perfectly with my cheese cassarole!
Larry: Um, what?
Remy: Nothing.
I love this show! It’s so funny and creative! Everyone says that it’s cheap, because none of the characters have arms or legs, but I think the limitations, like in WALL-E, make it harder to work with.
I definitely like Big Idea. I haven’t seen any of their newer productions, but there’s a great amount of charm and effort put into the VeggieTales shows despite the low budget.
I grew up with Big Idea… Good times, Good times…
IDK where they are now though, last time I heard of Big Idea was when they released that movie about the lazy pirates. XD
Veggie Tales never ceases to amuse me . They rock!
Funny story, actually. My sisters and I used to watch those videos all the time, so my parents used to always give them to some friend’s kids as easy gifts. Thing is, they never realized they were religious, and the friends were atheists. Apparently, they thought my parents were trying to convert their kids or something. XD
I didn’t grow up on them, but I have seen snippets of some video and it is rather amusing. …like if Hallmark’s “Hoops & Yoyo” had some depth… (well, at least the voices are somewhat similar…)
Ah Veggie Tales… good times, good times…
We used to only have three videos, then we met my step dad and his three year old daughter.
I think we now own the whole collection of Veggie Tales x)
Did anyone watch the other things that Big Idea produced? (The only other show I can think of is the 3, 2, 1, Penguins!, but that’s it )
Me! Me! Me! I did! I wish I still had my Veggietales videos! Mama gave them all away!
VeggieTales is probably one of the best shows out there for young kids… and kids at heart. I still remember the day that my grandma bought my sister and I the very first episode – we laughed our heads off and watched the Water Buffalo Song about ten times in a row. Ever since then, we’ve been hooked. We have every single video/DVD and still watch them from time to time, as embarrassed as I am to say it. (snigger)
I was always kind of jealous of Petunia, since I had a bit of a crush on Larry as a kid…

Vegietales was one of the best. I think it was the best until Phil Vischer left. The new stuff is not nearly as good as the old stuff. Old stuff being everything up to and including Jonah.
Someone asked before about 3,2,1, Penguins. There was also the cartoon adventures of Larry Boy. Of all those three Vegietales is still the best.
VeggieTales are great! Being raised in a Christian household they were the only Christian media that really seemed to get down to a kid’s level to teach them cute biblical lessons. It wasn’t “AND MOSES TOOK THE BIG ROCKS DOWN FOR HIS PEOPLE TO READ…” (I’m sure other Christian-family kids know what I’m talking about. Christian media, well… kind of stinks.)
But I guess most people don’t know that Big Idea kind of… died. The original company no longer exists and a new Big Idea has been made by a different company, and they’re in charge of Bob & Larry now. It’s kind of a long story.
I know quite a few of you who responded are Christians, and I’d urge you to read Phil Vischer’s book (Phil = Bob the Tomato, creator of VeggieTales, etc.). It’s called ‘Me Myself and Bob: a True story about dreams, God, and talking vegetables’. Even if you’re not a Christian it is a great book.
There’s even a funny story about John Lasseter in there… haha. Well, kind of a sad, not-that-funny-for-Phil story. But I won’t give it away. If you like animation, VeggieTales and spirituality, it’s a fantastic read.
EEEEEEEP!!! I FOUNDZ THE VEGGIETALES THREAD!!! XD
Ahem sorry. VeggieTales has been part of my life for pretty much the entirety of it. If there’s one thing that I love as much as Pixar, it’s VeggieTales! They are so good, and so funny, and they have made such an impact on my life. I would love to work at Big Idea someday! There are only two episodes I haven’t seen, but every other one is awesome! I’m actually working on a VT fansite that hopefully will be up before too long. And you know, there are a number of people who worked at Big Idea who now work at Pixar, like Daniel Lopez Munoz and Jeremy Vickery. Big Idea and VeggieTales have played a big part in both my Faith and my inspiration and drive to be part of the animation business.
Oh, and funny story: in a Pixar interview I saw once, I saw what I thought was a plush Bob and Larry in the background, when I looked again, it turned out it was a plush Lightning and Mater… they do kinda look alike, don’t they?
