Bolt is coming home • 03-22/09 on Blu-Ray • 0324/09 on DVD

Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment has announced that they will bring the computer animated feature ‘Bolt’ to Blu-ray on March 22nd, two days before the DVD release. This is the first new release Blu-ray title to be released before the DVD, and will surely be a test for future product release schedules.

No technical specs have been announced at this time, though you can expect to see 1.78:1 1080p AVC accompanied by lossless audio.

Extras for this release include:

I’m looking forward to Rhino’s short, though I was hoping for a Mittens one, maybe a backstory. But it’s cool the hamster gets his own adventure.

Hoping there’s a DVD commentary track. I find this (earlier release on HD than SD) much less objectionable than the practice of omitting crucual (in my mind) features from the SD release, especially on Disney’s best post renaissance film.
