Bolt

Nice TV-spot, thedriveintheater. :sunglasses:

“I know this dog. I gotta remember, it’s gonna kill me.”

“No, I don’t know. I-I-I thought had-”

lol Man, I love that part, it got me ROFL the first few times I watched it.

Same here ROFLOL!!!

wait i know this guy…no…no…i though i did…no

I’m getting more and more anxious for this one to come out…it just looks like it has great potential…i don’t know why??

Maybe because the trailer and TV spots have convinced you otherwiste, Al-Bob?
Seriously, if you guys loved the TV spot, you must watch the 3 minute preview, the link of which is in my previous post. It was what eventually sold the movie to me, [spoil]the cartoon caricatures of the shelter guards, the entire riff on the prison break-out genre, and Mittens’ emotional response were all amazing. Plus, there’s a pretty cool explosion at the end…[/spoil]

Thanks, thedriveintheatre, but I think I’ll find out the good parts for myself. I wouldn’t want to ruin it for me.

Ruining other movies that disney puts out is just as bad as pixar films…i think.

Uh…what exactly do you mean Al-Bob? Sorry if I inadvertently spoiled any of the plot to you guys, I made sure it was in spoiler tags and the video’s out in the open as promotional material anyway… If you meant that remark for the marketing gurus, then yes, I agree that they shouldn’t have spoiled that bit for the fans… I hate getting told a major plot point of a Disney film as much as a Pixar film, or any other film I’m looking forward to for that matter. But I guess that [spoil]part was gonna have to happen at some point in Bolt’s story anyway…[/spoil]

Anyhoo…MAJOR ANNOUNCEMENT! The Bolt website has just undergone a major revamp and now instead of showing that annoying TV screen against a red background they actually got a menu system and a nice navigational screen featuring a simplified road map of Bolt’s journey.

There’s a plot synopsis, character pages, all three videos (trailer, TV spot, and extended clip), photos (although they strangely reduced the number from three in the teaser website to just one for this new version), and a game featuring Rhino the hamster (which looks and plays like a Sonic the Hedgehog game) with more in the pipeline! Interestingly enough, one of their sponsors is a battery company which bears a similar-looking thunderbolt logo as them. I also like the transition effects and the beautiful backgrounds of the various locales that the trio visit.

Check out the official website and tell me what you think, people! I’m as excited for this as Quantum of Solace, and I may do a promotional campaign like I did on my YT channel for Wall-E, only a double feature this time!

“Let it begin! Let it begin!”

Spoiling disney films that are animated are in my opinion just as bad as ruining pixar films with spoilers.

It almost has the same result.

So was that comment directed at me or the Disney executives? Again, if you meant that remark for me, I apologise if I have spoiled the movie in any way…
Oh, and what do you think of the new website?

No…its against myself for spoiling the plot to myself. I really enjoy being able to not spoil myself with looking at spoilers but i can’t help it…

And yes the new site is awesome!!

Three more Bolt clips have been unleashed. Huh, I made a pun.

The first, “BOLT Chase Scene”, looks like the action-packed intro to the movie. Bolt is playing his superhero role in what looks like a TV show. He races across San Francisco with his owner Penny as they evade brainless henchmen on bikes and helicopters. There was a nice sub-plot in the middle involving a [spoil]timer bomb and Bolt’s efforts to dispose of it[/spoil]. The highway chase is well-done, and spoofs the Michael Bay aesthetic appropriately. There are a couple of funny moments, like [spoil]a drink cup falling over from a shockwave miles away, and the goons electrocuting themselves[/spoil].

The second is 'BOLT Pigeons Clip!", which shows Bolt’s encounter with a trio of New York pigeons (who suspiciously look like the Goodfeathers from the Animaniacs). Each pigeon has an individual mannerism, from the way they stand, their neck twitches, and their unique voices. I particularly liked the purple pigeon’s molting feathers, it was a subtle and nice touch to the character.

The third clip is “Meet Rhino”. Here we get a glimpse of Rhino the hamster’s obsessive fan character. The dialogue is cute and witty. I liked Mittens the abandoned cat’s incredulous expressions and sideway glances at Bolt when [spoil]Rhino relates the dog’s ‘superpowers’, which were followed by her cynical statements and a hilarious ‘poker-faced’ look when Rhino hurls insults at her.[/spoil] Bolt, as usual, is totally clueless (“No one can evade my detection”), but his final questioning of whether Rhino is up for the adventure is brilliant.

Overall, the clips keep getting better and better as more is revealed. I must say that although the plot is cliched, the characters’ understated animations are amazing (they reveal so much about each character’s personalities and traits ) and, dare I say it, on par with Pixar’s! I’m getting more excited with each new clip being released!

Watch all of them on the official Bolt YT channel.

I looked into this and have to say I’m going with the name Disney’s Bolt and the art style of American Dog.

Based solely on the trailers (and sorry if this was mentioned already) it seems to me Bolt has quite the Buzz Lightyear Complex. You know, thinks it’s all real. And the cat is the Woody in his life, telling him he’s just a dog and it’s a tv show, he’s not a real hero. Just an observation I made, no, I’m not saying they ripped the idea off Toy Story. That kind of storyline can probably be used in a number of different varieties…

Not to mention the producer is the director of Toy Story, Mr Lasseter. Though he has nothing to do with the script, of course…

There’s also some shades of Homeward Bound, Beverly HIlls Chihuahua and Underdog in it…

I was on the Disney official website and I saw they were doing “Super Secret Files” just like the Incredibles “secret Files”. I am thinking, “Can you be at least a little more original?”

TSS: You mean they did the same for Incredibles? This is ridonkulus!

Anyway, I saw those on YT a few weeks back. For anyone who’s interested, here’s TV spot 1 and TV spot 2.

I actually like the Super Secret Files! I don’t think it’s tooo much of a knock off of the The Incredibles Files. They also have one for the Mittens cat ([url]http://home.disney.go.com/movies[/url]) but Rhino the hamster is still my favorite. Every time I see him, I end up laughing out loud.

It comes out next Friday over here – yay!!!

I just hope that Bolt is good enough. Will probably see it in January as it hits theaters in Estonia. And this will be my first 3D movie experience in the cinema. :sunglasses:

Oooh first 3D experience!!! How exciting  I hope to see it in 3D too!

Hey hey hey everyone! Two more brand-spanking new trailers have premiered online! They’re both called Trailer 3, but I numbered them according to their posting date.

Trailer #3:
More scenes are revealed, and the usual hype words are thrown about (“It will be huge man, huge!”) to drum up anticipation. I love the tagline “Hamster vs Everyone”, it really describes Rhino’s gung-ho attitude to take on the world!
And I’m loving Mitten’s lines the more I hear them. Her expressions when she says “Who?” and “Now I’m concerned on a number of levels” are priceless.

Trailer #4
The pigeons are also scene-stealers! I liked all their lines: “Haha, the irony!”, “Oh…SNAP!” and “Wait for it…”
And I love Rhino’s portmanteau: “Bee-y-awesome!”

Bolt sounds like a quotable movie… I’m willing to overlook the cliched elements if it entertains me enough with the witty dialogue and amazing character animation (the body language and expressions are on par with Pixar!).

Thoughts anyone? Excited? Not? Maybe?

I’m still a bit ‘mreh’ about Bolt, to be honest. The premise is quite cool, and the characters seem pretty interesting (though I’m getting the Dreamworks feeling with the whole supposedly funny side characters type thing that keeps going on, like the pigeons) but it’s so cliche, it’s painful. Maybe it’s just the impressions that I’m getting from the trailers, but this film doesn’t really stand out from other animated films such as Madagascar 2 or Ice Age 9 or whatever, besides the fact that it’s actually original. The music in the trailers was annoying, as was the claim that having Miley Cyrus in a film is a good thing, because it’s clearly not. The animation does look easy on the eyes, though.

I won’t see it in the cinema, but I’ll probably catch it on TV sometime. Thanks for the links to the new trailers, thedriveintheatre!
