Sorry if there is already a thread about this but Are Films based on books the future? Today when I when to Target, I saw alot of books with the titles,Slumdog Millionare, He’s just not that into you, Confessions of a shopaholic, The Curious case of Benjamin Button, Revolutionary Road, and The Reader. I realised something else. They all said now A Major Motion Picture! :open_mouth:

I’m not sure whether they’re so much the future or not, but they’ve always been part of moviemaking and hollywood in general.

There are a whole lot of movies that have been based on books for years. One flew over the cuckoo’s nest, to kill a mockingbird, I could list a bunch more but it’s late :stuck_out_tongue:

Of course, back in those days there used to be many more original movies which balanced everything out.

It’s definitely shaping up to be the future by the looks of things, but that doesn’t fill me with much hope. It just doesn’t seem very original to me

This is one of the main problems with comic books now in that industry, people seem to think of them as nothing more than treatments for movies. Which is extremely disheartening to fans, I believe.

I don’t think they are necessarily the future. Book adaptations have been done for long time like Mark E said. They will continue to be done though. But I do think original films will balance them out… I hope any way.

There is already a thread about this. Feel free to post this question in the “Best and Worst Book Adaptaion” thread here in the Off-toic section.
