Book Review: To Infinity and Beyond

This book is stunning. Simply stunning.

This is the latest collection to my Pixar artbook. The first thing you’ll want to do is to wrap the book up to protect the cover from the elements. The bright green cover is made of cloth like fabric and attracts dust easily. After I picked it up from my desk from photographing it, some parts of the cover became dirty!

This is a big book with old school photos, high resolution renders, great writing and paper stock.

The book is on the history of Pixar animation studios before there was Pixar animation studios, all the way up to the Disney bought-over. It stops just right before Ratatouille or there would probably be more written on Brad Bird. Through the pages, you’ll find out the true meaning of passion, determination and the love for their art (pun intended).

If you’ve owned other Pixar artbooks, you’ll be pleased to note that there are quite a lot of new, never-been-printed photos in the book. You’re going to see tons of new images.

Here’s the chapter list:

* CHAPTER 1: Ed
* CHAPTER 2: John
* CHAPTER 3: Steve
* CHAPTER 4: Pixar's Early Days

Oh dude, I swear I got to get that book. Since you seem to enjoy it, I believe I shall too.

Yeah, that book looks pretty amazing. It’s expensive, but well worth it. Oh well, better start saving up! Thanks for showing it to us, parka.

I got that book for my seventeenth birthday that just passed, and I swear, I must’ve read it eight times cover to cover by now. I obviously love it to bits. It’s too bad you haven’t had the opportunity to purchase it, guys. You’ll never put it down (okay, maybe that just applies to me :laughing:) . :wink:

This is definitely an incredible book. I bought it and read it in a matter of 2 or 3 days.

If you haven’t yet, you should buy it, so many interesting facts about Pixar’s beginning (and everything else).

you guys would like this documentary called “The Pixar Story”

I would love to see “The Pixar Story”.

I was gonna’ see it when it was in Seattle but I found out about it a week after it ended. I don’t have cable so I missed it when it was on Starz.

I’ve heard it may be on that complete Pixar movies box set, but seeing as I already own all the movies on 2-Disc special editions (excepting Cars and Ratatouille of course) that seems like a big waste of my money.

Does anybody know how i can watch it online, or buy it somewhere (I’d much rather buy it).

Any information would be very appreciated.

if you have an independent cinema in your area, it will probably sell the movie there, but also probably at blockbuster. it was a great documentary, and it’ll tell you A LOT of things you didn’t know before.

No independant cinema. I didn’t think Blockbuster would carry something like that but, I’ll check it out. Thanks for the info TS2.

Still, I’m curious if anybody knows if there will be a release of “The Pixar Story” singly, you know not in a box set. I haven’t been able to find something like that, but if anybody finds anything out please let me know.

you probably actually have one. look around! There are four in my area (St. Louis), and I didn’t even know about them until my fourth year living there.

Oh yeah this book was awesome. It had beautiful shots from the movies and shorts in it and I loved all the concept artwork. Not to mention it was very informative and interesting. I couldnt stop reading it once I picked it up! And for me it read faster than I thought it would.

I guess “The Pixar Story” is the visual version for the book. Since the book is written by the guy who directed the movie.

Now I’ve to wait for the movie to come out on disc.

Glad you guys like the book!

Yes, it is a great book, indeed! :smiley:

Yeah, mine too. It’s getting more dusty every time I put the book on a table to read. I recently managed to get a cover but the dirt on the book still annoys me.

Any idea how to clean the book? (or is it just impossible? :frowning: )

Maybe can try using a sticky tape to stick out the dust? Must sure to try on a small area first to make sure it doesn’t make the book furry.

This book is FANTASTIC ! I got it as soon as it came out, i just had too… :smiley:

I also saw “The Pixar Story” which is also great but when you’ve read the book you actually know lots of things in it .

The book is great. The art and drawings are amazing.
