I’ve all their artbooks, except from before Monsters Inc. Sadly, it’s pretty hard to find Toy Story and A Bug’s Life artbooks nowadays as they are out of print.
Here are some of the photos I took from my artbooks. I’m a big fan of their movies, art and passion. These books are great inspiration.
I’ve got a friend visiting California right now, and she found The Pixar Touch in a bookstore and said that she might get it for me. Eeep! I’m so excited! It’s practically impossible to find Pixar books over here without ordering off the internet, and that makes it twice as expensive.
Man… I’d love some of those. I’m sure they’d be a great inspiration to someone who has just picked up drawing for fun. Plus, anything Ratatouille is a check mark in my book
The Art of Surf’s Up is pretty good. Has a very good scrapbook-like feeling. And the storyboards are very colourful and beautiful.
The best artbook is probably The Art of Monster House. The storyboard drawings are unparalleled. They really hired top grade professionals for the art.
This artbook is unlike the other Pixar artbooks, I’ve own. This book carries a much darker tone. That’s because in the movie, planet earth is covered with trash. Even just by looking at the pictures below, you can see that the colour palette on the movie set is going to be very limited. As a result, this book isn’t as colourful as the other artbooks.
Also missing from this book are pastel drawings! I love pastel drawings! Ralph Eggleston, who did the beautiful pastel drawings in Finding Nemo, changed to a different style!
Otherwise, this is still another marvelous artbook for any Pixar fan.
I’m on the list, right? I’m going nuts waiting for this thing. I already have a shirt, a poster, and some croc charms. Plus my desktop wallpaper and internet browser are WALL-E themed. And I have already make about 60 icons, 2 fan fics, 1 fan art, and several doodles. Maybe I went beyond crazy excited list a while ago. Is there a frighteningly obsessed list?
Anyways… gosh, the art. I want that book so bad, and am resisting with everything in my to hold off till I see the movie. I just… it’s SO PRETTY. THE COVER ALONE IS BEAUTIFUL. Seriously, what kinda incredible stuff has PIXAR been doing over there for the past 4-6 years or however long this thing took?
