Yes, Oscar bait that failed.
While it actually got the nomination, the critics panned it.
I didn’t hate it, but it was pretentious as you said.

Has anyone read Boy in the Striped Pajamas? I tried to get it today but our library’s copy was out. ![]()
To Kill a Mockingbird I’ve been wanting to read this book since I was in middle school. I finished it about a week ago and it’s now my favorite book on all time. I didn’t feel that way after I finished it. My originally thoughts were that it was boring and predictable. But as the day went on, I couldn’t get the book out of my mind. And I really started thinking about what I read and was moved to tears. I love a good coming of age story so I thought that I would love reading about Scoot. But it was Atticus that ended up making me love this book. I loved how he handled his self in certain situations, his way of thinking and I loved the lessons he taught his children. I will definately be reading this book again soon.
The Perks of Being a Wallflower I saw the trailer for the movie based on this book recently. It looked good so I decided to read the book before I see the movie. It was ok. The main problem I had with the book was that the character was way to naive for a fifteen year old teenager IMO.
Really? I actually found Charlie to be a very intellectual kid for his age. To Kill A Mockingbird is a good book! I just finished a book called Losers. I found it to be very odd, I wouldn’t suggest it. ![]()
Were probably not gonna read half of the second to last chapter and last in my History textbook. I my read it for fun though.
Love your signature David! (The one on the right)
I just finished reading “The Boy in the Striped Pajamas” today. Oh, the ending was so sad but they handled the subject matter very well. ![]()
Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close is one of my friend’s favorite books. He was disapointed by the movie because, as you guys mentioned, it was bascially Oscar bait.
I’m waiting for a book on the French Revolution, Citizens, to be delivered. My history prof recommended it to me, and I went to the local book store and ordered it.
I am currently reading both The BFG by Roald Dahl and 40 Years of Queen ![]()
I like Roald Dahl! We read James and the Giant Peach when I was really young in school.
I recently finished reading The Pact by Jodi Picoult. It was a little longer than my typical book choices but it was excellent, very captivating. ![]()
At the moment I’m reading The Winds Of War, I’m really enjoying it so far.
Reading up on travel guides to Shanghai, flying there tomorrow on a family trip to my sis! ![]()
I finished Catching Fire, the third book in the Hunger Games series, a few weeks ago. Now I’m reading a book called Music For The Movies. Since I love film scores, I’ve really been enjoying this book.
Catching Fire is the second book. Did you finish that one or the third, Mockingjay?
Sorry, I meant to say Mockingjay. I get those two titles mixed up a lot for some reason. ![]()
I just finished A Tree Grows in Brooklyn. I love a good coming of age story and this book was a good one. The only thing I wasn’t to crazy about was what happened to the mother towards the end. But other than that I loved it. I’m going to start Interview with the Vampire soon.
I’m currently not reading any books… But I am writing two.
Recently finished Pete Sampras autobiography. He was always a quiet guy, so it’s interesting to read his thoughts on his tennis career. I’d definitely recommend it to any Pete Sampras or Tennis fans in general.
Right now I’m reading American Girl’s Caroline Series. They are set in 1812 at the start of the war. I have read two of the books so far.
I’m currently reading “My Sister’s Keeper”, very slowly
