This could pose for an
interesting topic of discussion:
What do you do when you are bored?
Me? Well, here is just a little taste of my ideas for handling boredom:
- Clean the
House - Yesterday, I finally cracked. Not a few weeks ago, I announced to my entire family that I
would attempt to clean our entire house in one day: December 1st. Oddly enough, I came quite close to achieving
that goal. The day before today, I cleaned the entire house (except for the living room, which is the biggest
room) and put up almost all of the Christmas decorations. So now…I’m happy that the house is actually
clean, which is a rare occasion…what with five people and a cat running around the
place all day.
(And, due to the fact that I almost passed out from all the cleaning, I am extremely cranky
this evening. Heh…)
- Read the Dictionary - There came a time when I
became so bored that I read a third of the ‘A’ section of the dictionary in an hour. The good thing is that I
learned something; the bad thing is that my eyes were screwed up for an extra two hours. ![]()

- Read an Anonymous Book - Usually, when I have nothing to do, I will read a book…or a series
of books. I will grab a novel (usually one of the Harry Potter books), go into the
hall bathroom, lock the door, sit on the toilet, and read. I only do this when I have to go to the bathroom –
that way, I can accomplish two tasks at once. ![]()
- Hike - If I get
extremely bored to the point of exhaustion, I will either walk around and around the
house with my sister…quoting dialogue from various films at the same time, or I will hike in the local park.
What about you guys? Do you have any emergency activities for when you suffer from a lack of
entertainment?
