Aside from the short, I found the little short about
“who is Bud Luckey” very entertaining and intresting. After watching that, I hold great respect for Mr.
Luckey. He animated and sang in my favorite Sesame Street song when I was only three years old: The
Lady Bug Picnic.
And to think, five years later, he worked on more stuff that I absolutely
love. The Incredibles, Toy Story, Bounding, Jack-Jack Attack , etc.
TSS: Yeah, I saw that too. He was a great man, and I loved how they said that
Boundin’ was just Bud Luckey in animated short form.
lizardgirl: I loved that to. I mean, look at his
contributions to Pixar. He at leasts deserves something great as this.
Another reason
I like Boundin’ is because it’s so timeless. The story, music and voices could have been done by Disney 50-60
years ago, and it would have been identical. It’s exactly the sort of thing Walt and his guys would have
done.
“No school like the old school”
No school
like the old school
You can say that again. Bud Luckey, definetly the best old school guy
in Pixar. Look at his crontributions? And he was great, even before he worked at Pixar.
For some reason, i just never got into this
one…
Poor you lennonluver. I wonder. Is there any reason why
this short didn’t fly as well as the other ones did?
I’m not altogether sure. It’s okay. I guess
i just found it a little silly or a little weird or something. Or maybe it’s cuz my cousin (who’s also a little
weird. but I should talk. so am i!) thought it was hilarious, hyped it up, and told me it was awesome, and maybe
it didnt meet my expectations.

Unfortunately, I will have to agree
with lennonluvr9 on this one. I never did like
Boundin’ as much as the other Pixar shorts.
And if you’d like to know why,
here are the reasons:
1. Mr. Lucky’s voice is certainly a unique one. I
love how he sounds like the grandfather-ly type. However, I think that the tone was a little “too” deep
for the short. It almost felt, to me, like it was “pressing” in on the audience, for some reason. Maybe
it’s just me…? No offense to Mr. Luckey. He is a wonderful voice actor when it comes down to
it…
2. The setting and context just didn’t do it for me; which is odd,
because I absolutely love Western-type scenarios and tales. Perhaps the rather
odd/weird reality of the story and setting altogether didn’t strike me as “tasteful”, or the like.
I feel so embarassed now. It seems like I’m the only one who doesn’t have a liking for this little
short, besides lennonluvr9, that is.
Well, everyone’s allowed to have their own opinions. I wasn’t sure whether I liked it or not
at first, but then the bouncing owl swayed it for me.
I find it cool how you can input your own rhytem to the music of Boundin’ and, if you are
musically talented, it will work.
I think this is possibly my favourite Pixar short. I remember sitting in the cinema waiting for the Incredibles to start, and then Boundin came on. I sat there engaged for the whole time though it. The setting and characters are really bright and colourful, and like all pixar films, the animation was brilliant. I really enjoy the whole “Grandfather telling a story” feel that Bud Luckey brings to it. Its a very ‘feel good’ short film, and I always watch it everytime i get my Incredbiles DVD out.
Hey, I like your little review of it Danpjames. You pretty much nailed everything right there. I assume that you love the music too right?
Oh of course. Kinda suprised i missed it out of the review to be honest. To me, everything about it is great. I have the music in my head right now, and its just reminded me how great it is. I also like the animals contributing to the music as well, like the owls hooting and the snake rattling.
Oh, and thanks to another topic on this wonderful forum, i found out about the Cars DVD easter egg where Lightning McQueen and Mater do their version of Boundin, which I found very amusing.
You know Danpjames, I still have yet to see that version. I watch boundin on my TI DVD and on youtube everynow and then,

I believe that
Boundin’ is the one of the only Pixar short films that actually has dialouge. I
have to say that Bud Luckey did a great job voicing every one of the characters.
Well, the only others that have dialouge that I can think of
are the two movie related shorts: Jack-Jack Attack and Mike’s New Car.
You know, everyone was different. I love all the pixar short movies…except for Boundin. In
fact, I hate it. I won’t get into a list of reasons why, because I don’t want to offend the people who like it.
But of all the Pixar shorts, it is by far my least favorite.
Go figure.
