Brad Bird retires

The Milton Keynes Gazette reports that Brad Bird, who helmed the Oscar-winning The Incredibles and, more recently, Ratatouille , has decided after a long debate to retire.

Says Bird:

" I deeply regret doing this, and to say goodbye to not only the studio. but to the art of animation is heart-breaking. Truth be told, that’s the biggest understatement. I’ve missed out on my children’s lives during the time I was working at Pixar, and want to be more present in them. I’ve always been a family man, and they come first before anything, even this. John (Lasseter) and Steve (Jobs) were slightly shocked, but understanding. They’ve assured me that 1906 will continue production, and they, along with everyone at the studio and Disney wish me the best."

Wth?? Retire??!?

Good thing about being an artist is you never retire- the imagination’s always at work and there’s bound to be new things to come out of it! I’ll never retire, I know that for certain.

But I suppose family’s a different story. I could understand how he feels … hopefully, in his much later years, he’ll return with new material.

Sorry, but it’s getting annoying now, it’s kinda late for an April Fool’s joke. At least for me, the Pixar Studios one was enough.

Lemme point out errors:

  1. In a quote when people add things they don’t use parentheses, they use brackets (“[]”)
  2. No link, no news

Is it an April Fools joke?

:imp:

Can’t stand it. First Deviantart, then Neopets, now this … wake me when today’s over. :stuck_out_tongue:

Darn, I was bragging to some friends about how I haven’t fallen for an April Fool’s joke in forever. There goes my pride. :frowning:

Yes, I’m sorry to say it, but it was an April Fools joke. Sorry, everyone. I was actually planning this since last year, and I seriously apoligize to anyone that was angered, bemused, or offendend by this. Now I feel like an immature, disgusting idiot. :frowning:

No, I think the joke was great but the timing was a bit off.

Did you really think I’d fall for that mean trick, Bill? Why did you do that?

You can’t trick super Pixar fans (or Brad Bird fans) into thinking such a great director would just quit out of the blue.

I’m just kidding, Bill. It was a cute trick, but it was way too predictable…and mean… :stuck_out_tongue: .

Whoa! That was pretty convincing… until I read the quote.

Good one, Bill! That would have made one depressing birthday for me! Haha.

Brad Bird is too young to retire.

Hahahaha! That was good! You know, for a split second, I thought WHAT??? Then I realized, wait a second, it must have been an April Fools. So yeah for second there, you had me. :stuck_out_tongue:

This just means now that Brad Bird possibly is or has been missing out on his childrens’ childhoods and doesn’t care. xD

Just kidding. ^^

I never fell for this joke. Oh wait… I kinda did actulay becuase I had to investgate this topic by it’s title.

Ha ha, kinda late, but nice try you guys. I think we had this joke on PP before, but I can’t remember.

Falls over laughing…didn’t fall for the joke though.

you play neopets? what was the prank this year? i missed it. they always do one. it sone of the traditions. like that one day being canceled for lack of interest.

Aha. If you can believe it, I was actually a little shellshocked. :open_mouth: Call me GULLIBLE – I believe everything!! I scrolled down slowly hoping to find someone who repudiated it.

Nah, I’m not offended. You just made me really appreciate him even more for staying in the business, and c’mon – he’s my favorite writer/director!

You know what’s weird? My brothers April Fools joke for my dad was that Charlton Heston died (his favorite actor). Two days later… well, it pretty much blew him away.

Here at PP, we tend to have a little fun with our conversations. April Fools day is one of the funnest because you get so many people who fall for it.

One that I fell for, and you didn’t. smirk lol, the jokes always on me! I can take that(always have)!

~Sarah

And it wouldn’t make sense not to have fun at a Pixar junto, would it?

Brad Bird retires. Ha. Ha. Ha. Super. Hil. Ar. Ious. :unamused:

The only April 1 jokes that are funny to me are Google’s ones. Did anyone catch the Virgle Project? xD
I was gonna “sign up”, but they weren’t “accepting” anymore YouTube videos after that day.
