Last night at the Oscars, one of my favourite moment was during a little video clip about the Academy, where they had interviews with Academy members talking about this and that, they show how they vote, and Brad Bird had a perfect one, it showed him cover his eyes, had the ballot out on the table and drop a pen to see where it landed. Did anyone else see this, and also, did anyone put it up on youtube yet.

It was great to see Ratatouille win for best animated feature as well. Brad’s speech was both funny and inspiring. I’m studying film and animation at the moment and (I’m sure many of you will have also had the experience) the conversation he described with the high school counselor was so similar to many situations I’ve been in. People seem to automatically dismiss your goals if they’re to do with film/animation…they seem to think of the big stars and assume thats who you want to be, most offer a “good on you for trying” sort of response, it’s really annoying!
I think that’s why Ratatouille moved me so much, I could really identify with Remy.
Enough with my rant, congrats to Brad Bird and PIXAR for another win!

Hahaha! That’s hilarious! It certainly seems sometimes like that’s what the Academy does anyway
