No, no, no!
Brad Pitt has good intentions, but sometimes I don’t think he knows what he’s doing.
For example, Hurricane Katrina. Worst disaster to hit the United States. I went last month to New Orleans, and I visited the Lower 9th Ward. The Lower 9th Ward was one of the poorest neighborhoods in New Orleans, and still is. If you go now it’s a total war zone. Multiple levees broke nearby during Katrina, washing away houses. There are barely any houses, it’s like a graveyard with the littered foundations of houses scattered around. Slowly, people are moving back to new homes in the 9th ward, where their families have lived for generations.
So Brad Pitt wants to help out, which is great, New Orleans still needs help. So he’s been building houses. Sounds great, right? Well, no. He’s building completely green, solar powered houses, in what is basically a ghetto. His plan is to sell these houses back to residents for cheap prices.
Well, what is cheap to Brad Pitt is not cheap to a poor New Orleanian after Hurricane Katrina. They can’t AFFORD to move back to where their houses once were, because Brad fricken’ Pitt is building new expenseive green, solar powered hosues for “cheap” prices’.
The houses don’t even FIT into the culture of architecture of New Orleans, they are completely out of place. It may not sound like a big deal, but something you need to see.
I don’t know, Brad Pitt is trying to help, but he’s making it worse. People who have lived in the Ward for generations, can’t afford to move back. It’s something Pitt hasn’t thought out.
