Bridge to Terebithia

Is anybody here seeing Bride to

Terebithia from Disney and Walden Media ?

My friend Stephanie are seeing it this Friday. :sunglasses:

You know, I was going to make a thread on this and never did. Thanks for

reminding me to write a review – heheh.

I went to see this picture on opening day

– Friday – with my second eldest sister. I was partly curious about the film for its story handling and special

effects, and half-interested to see if any Ratatouille trailers would be shown

during the film…

Well, I must say that I was extremely impressed beyond my

expectations after I walked out of the theater that day. To tell you the truth, I haven’t seen a more

motivating, heart-warming, and delicately crafted film this good since Happy Feet.

It completely blew me away story-wise and character-wise. I was smiling through 90% of the film, and that’s

saying something…

Please bear in mind that the special effects are few, and that the plot centers

mainly on the friendly relationship between a boy and his tomgirl-ish friend, Leslie. One reason why I love this

movie so much, actually, is because the kids act more like kids and because I could relate so much to both the

girl and boy characters…interests included.
Also bear in mind that there is a rather depressing ending, and

there is some language that is rather strong for young children.

Other than that, I absolutely

loved it. Best movie this year, so far, in my opinion!

And here’s the bonus part: They showed the

Ratatouille teaser trailer before the film!! Sure, it’s the same old teaser, but it

did get the most laughs out of the audience. My sister and I were shaking like crazy

from the excitement.

I’m going to see

it, but I wanna read the book first. I love fantasy films, and I’m afraid my novel will rip off of an existing

fantasy story, so I’m making sure to watch/read a lot of them- plus, they rock. It looks awesome- it’s a shame

I never heard of it as a child; I would’ve loved it then.

Oh I am planning on watching this. My brother read the book and said it was a wonderful book.

Sadly, my parents think that a movie about kids in a fantasy world is for kids.

I wasn’t very interested in this movie at first, but with all these positive reviews

popping up all over the place, I’m getting kind of interested. I knew next to nothing about the story before

last weekend, but now it sounds like the kind of movie I would enjoy.

TSS - Do your parents feel the same

way about The Chronicles of Narnia?

I just read the book and asolutely loved it! One of the most

moving books I’ve ever read. However, it looked like in the movie trailer, that they had spruced up the action

and added a bunch of fighting scenes. Terebithia actually played a small part in the book, and nothing (that’s

right: nothing) came alive or fought each other. There were no bizzare creatures or anything. Now I’m not trying

trying to wright a movie bash here, 'cause I haven’t seen it. But what I’m asking is: did they have these

things in the movie? IMO it would be really sad if they did! On the other hand it looked like a good movie and I

plan on seeing sometime. (Maybe on DVD)

Mitch- LOL! I saw a

Ratatouille spot at my showing of Night

at the Museum, and I was like WOW!. I’ve watched the trailer probably 50 times now, but when I

was watching it with everybody else, I felt like I was proud of Pixar. I don’t know, it was just exciting

hearing everyone laugh at the parts I love and whisper and snigger after the trailer was over.

I don’t

plan on seeing this. It looks good, but not for my taste.

Gasduude - Awesome! The book is usually always better than the eventual film, and

I’m glad that you gave the novel a positive ā€œthumbs upā€. Now I’m really looking forward to reading

it…when I have the chance.

Off-topic: Puh-ha! I know – it’s pretty

funny. Even though you’ve seen the trailer a billion times it’s still fun to hear the audience laughing from

the mere hilarity of it. My sister and I acted out all the parts and silently quoted all of Remy and Emile’s

lines when they showed the teaser. :stuck_out_tongue:

I didn’t get to read the book but I saw the movie last night. It was really good, but

depressing towards the end. But overall good. I just didn’t like how it ended.

But the film reminded me

of me, and I no longer feel like a nutcase! Not that I hallucinate or anything … <__< heheheh …

FONY - Yeah, it was rather depressing. I’m glad the film did end with a touch of a

pleasurable note, though.

And yep – this film remind me of myself, as well. Tomboy-ish; drawing; making

up stories; climbing up into treehouses…

We read the book in school about 7 years ago so i dont

remember at all what happened. I do remember it was my best friend’s fav book at the time, but she has since

grown out of that. I dont plan on seeing it cuz those fantasy type movies arent my kind of thing, but it looks

pretty decent.

i know i read this book, but dont remember whats it about

Well, according to a movie summary, "An 11-year-old

boy has his life changed forever when he befriends the class outsider, a girl. Together they create the world of

Terabithia, an imaginary kingdom filled with giants, trolls and other magical beings."
