This came up in a discussion I was having on Gaia Online: someone told me she remembers an episode of Buzz Lightyear of Star Command in which he doesn’t wear his purple cap thingy, showing his actual hair… Anyone in here that can confirm this?
I saw a screen shot once, it was unbelievably creepy.
Actually I don’t think Buzz has hair. I think what this person meant was that he’s been seen not wearing his space ranger suit, which is true. And without his suit on, he’s always worn the cover.
Can you find it for me?
Oh he doesnt? my memory is really fuzzy on it, I just remember thinking it looked very odd.
Edit: a quick google search hasnt turned up anything. its been years since I seen it. I was on ultimate disney’s forums when I did.
It was a big, black afro. At the same time, he was out of his space ranger suit as well, planning to quit being a space ranger for a simpler life.
I was a fan of the series in elementary school, so I know a lot about the show. The only episode I have saved, however, is the Rookie of the Year.
I believe that episode was called Lone Wolf. I don’t ever recall seeing him with an afro though. I saw his partner on that show Warp Darkmatter with one.
Well, I can’t be 100% sure after 10 years (I’m starting to feel old). Although I can almost distinctly picture Buzz in a plain black shirt with an afro.

Buzz wore a black shirt in the episode Opposites Attract. It was when Gravitina hit him with a ray gun that made his head real big and he was watching an ad or something on TV saying that “black shirts make you look slimmer”. Were you thinking that his big head in that episode was an afro, or are you just saying that you can picture Buzz looking like that?
I know that Lone Wolf is the one where he tells a story about how he quit Star Command one time.

Oh, that’s where the black shirt comes from, but I’m pretty sure he does take it off when he quits being a space ranger.

To tell you guys something, when I was younger, I dreamt of being buzz and acting all cool and everything and I was very curious of what that purple thing over his head. It’s apart of his space gear I discoverd Hahaha!! 
Buzz never, ever takes off his space cap thing. I remember the episode in which he had a big head, but even then he’s still wearing one. And there’s one where he’s fishing, or something, and he’s on holiday wearing a shirt that John Lasseter would be proud of, but even then he’s still wearing that purple cap thing on his head. I just can’t imagine him without it. He’s probably bald underneath or something.
I’ve always wondered what Buzz’s hair looks like, but we’ll probably never know.

Really though, I’ve always tried to imagine Buzz’s hair, and after getting tired of trying to picture it I finally just decided to imagine him as either bald or a buzz cut (no pun intended this time). That’s not based on anything, except that it would fit with his smooth head look that his purple head cover thing gives him.

Well, coincidence or not, there’s a resemblance. Even the Toy Story website admits this. And John Lasseter has short hair, so that doesn’t contradict your theory.
Anyway, you don’t need a buzz cut to actually fit on a head cover. I’ve been on stage and people with rather long hair can fit it in one of those bald masks, like this nexternal.com/masquerade/images/34579-m.jpg.
BUT, I think Buzz’s hair should be short because he’s a Space Ranger, so he’s kinda militaristic.
