Buzz's stretched out arm.

What Pixar does to Buzz’s arm to make him touch his Laser? They stretch the skeleton ore mesh’s arm to reach it. It’s always seen from the other side, but this is a view of his left arm. Can anyone get a blueray cap? All I have is this bad flv shot.

His left bicep intersects his chest - none of the real toys can do that and its not physically possible unless Pixar fudges with the render models -Omar

His forearm intersects every other scene in the movie. Edit: Worded the OP badly. I meant “What does Pixar do to Buzz to Touch his Laser?” and was gonna explain what. My bad.

Oh god, I never noticed that! I mean, I knew about their trick to make him fire his laser, but that picture is just unbelievable. Pixar may have touched up that since the re-release, but his helmet is clearly in the way.

And welcome back to the forums, JPaulie.

Buzz’s build restricts nearly all normal arm movement.

Here’s another for ya.

Not only is his arm stretched, you can see his bicep clip into his helmet when he moves his arm.

It’d be nice to have blue-ray versions of these two.

This one is actually blue-ray!

Looks as if Buzz is gonna tear Woody’s arms off!

Oh, and thanks, it’s good to be back.

Wahahaha! Thank you! That is an unbelievable rendering error.

This is one from Toy Story 3. They did it better here, but it still looks funky.

Its not an error, they had to go out of their way to make these stretches happen, its not something the computer does automatically. It’s the only way to get his arm to reach. The only thing you can do is use cleaver camera angles to minimize how much people notice. Of course, there’s not much wiggle room when you have fans going frame by frame, heh. Your average person, and even most fans will never notice such a thing.
But even when they make toy buzz’s whos arm reaches the lazer, they have to stretch his arm.

(tried to find a better angle but Ive seen it in person, its long, trust me)

In the case of woody it was done for comedic effect. (although they could have made the texture stretch in a more natural way for sure). Cartoons squash and stretch all the time, so it shouldn’t be much surprise that they are trying to bring some of that over into CG animation.
