Can WALL-E go up and down stairs?

I am planning on writing a WALL-E fanfic but I need to know one thing first. If WALL-E ever encountered a set of stairs would he be able to go up and down them? I think that having treads would make climbing stairs a bit difficult. So what do all of you think? Can WALL-E climb stairs?

He goes up and down those cranes to get to the top of the garbage buildings, and he also built stairs that he goes up. I suppose it’s entirely possibly, especially if there are handrails, so he can grip them and hover over the steps.

His treads do seem to be very flexible in themselves, and as Ryan said, the presence of a handrail would make climbing stairs easier for WALL-E. I think he is capable of doing so, but he isn’t exactly going to be zooming up them.

Well i know he could go down the stair like at one point [spoil]Where Wall-E starts to spy on Eve in the supermarket and then gets caught, he turns back hits a lot of trolleys. In which makes him descending down the stair while being chased by the trolley and gets crushed by the trolleys near the door.[/spoil]

The way his treads work is similar to robots that are for searching buildings, which includes the obstacles of going up and down stairs.

If this was a poll, i’d vote yes. :sunglasses:

actually, the “stairs” were more like a series of ramps. I guess he could push himself up with his arms, then move up slowly, step by step. It sounds like a good idea for a humorous short.

He can. Didn’t you see him go up those stairs to get to the monorail tracks?

That was genius, Axiom! :sunglasses:

I believe he has maneuverability not included in the original programming, he’s had 700 years of experimenting, lol. He could probably. When he played with the fire extinguisher he tried staying in place by locking he treads ( didn’t work anyway  but is hows he can do it though). I guess he could move one tread up, lock it so he doesn’t slip, then bring the second one up, and lock it too. Then repeat. But he could only go one step at time. Wouldn’t do too good in The Empire State Building stair marathon, unless you only had to go down.
