Gosh, I hope not! Maybe they will have Doc a mute, if he does appear… the other option is to find a replacement. I’m also wondering how they’re gonna do Filmore and Red… maybe they won’t talk in the sequel either…

I forgot to mention this yesterday while we were discussing Cars 2, but it may turn out if [spoil]Luigi is tagging along, he will see a lot more Ferraris in Italy (maybe even a hook up with a lady one, ahaha! :laughing:).[/spoil]

This is like [spoil]Around the World in 80 Days[/spoil] meets [spoil]North by Northwest[/spoil].

The most Red talked was when you heard him gasp or bawl his eyes out! So talking isn’t really needed for him. But for Doc and Fillmore . . .

I would be less bothered by a new Fillmore, especially since he really was very much a supporting character. Doc - oh, man, Paul Newman as Doc was my favorite part of Cars - I just can’t see replacing him - but they’ve got to acknowledge Doc’s existence, even if he doesn’t have a big role in this one. That is going to be a toughy.

I love TDIT’s idea. Luigi [spoil]finding a Ferarri girlfriend[/spoil] would be funny.

I just read something about the D23 expo, and it said one extremely sad piece of information for me.

I didn’t want this to happen!!! I prayed for it not to!!! But it did!!! :`-( Why, why, why, why, why!!!

I think they’ll say that he died or something like that. I’m in denial though. It’s too upsetting for me. I cried for about half an hour. Now, I’m just really depressed.

I know its going to be hard for you LightningAndDoc, but how could they realistically bring in someone to give Doc the same inspirational voice? They couldn’t Newman had one of those special voices, only possible through imitation.

I say Strip Weathers…
-He’s a former racer so knows Lightning’s Predicament. Just like the Fabulous Hudson Hornet was.
-He’s imparted information upon Lightning Before (Just after the opening race just before Lightning jumps the announcement of the tie.)… Just like Doc did.

I’ll put Strip’s “The King” Image in “Petty Blue” too.

Yeah, it was either they couldn’t get his voice, or they decided not to use his character out of respect. But either way, it’s hard for me. :frowning:

Hence the key phrases, ‘it sounds as though’ and ‘at the moment’. :laughing: As I said, I don’t mind being proven wrong! Actually, I’d rather be proven wrong and end up watching a great film. :smiley: The only thing that’s dead certain is that the main characters are obviously going to be the same (or similar, with a few new ones added in) and one of the reasons why I might not be as keen on Cars as on other Pixar films is that I couldn’t identify with the main characters. But hey, they might introduce a couple of cool new ones who I do identify with! Who knows?

I have a feeling Captain Pan is gonna like the sound of this… I was thinking of whether Damian Lewis (from my favourite cop show so far: Life) would be a great voice actor for the [spoil]Brit secret agent[/spoil], and whaddya know? I just found out he had a cameo in a Perry the Platypus ep as a [spoil]Bond lookalike[/spoil]. He has great star power and is yet underrated in the ‘popularity radar’, so he might be a good choice for Pixar (which has a habit of picking talented but not exactly well-known voice actors for their characters, unlike Dreamworks’ more straightforward A-listers).

Whaddya guys think?

I’m really, really nervous about this movie. To be honest, the new details just made me more afraid that this will be Pixar’s first bad movie. The spy thriller thing seemed a bit…Dreamworksy? I just can’t see much room for character development, heart, and strong messages, which is what Cars was all about. :frowning:

Still, Up was the first Pixar movie where I wasn’t going “Oh God, this is the end. What are they thinking?” At first. Yes, even Ratatouille and WALL-E, but for them I got over it and got excited pretty quick. Maybe it’ll surprise me. I just hope that they don’t get to caught up in being entertaining and fun for the little kiddies and forget that they’re supposed to, ya know, have a good story.

I loved Cars, and I would hate to have such a good movie get a bad sequel.

Plus, if they play a Legally Blond 2 and only feature Sally in the very beginning and very end, someone’s gonna pay. :imp: cracks gun
