Ah just another Disney marketing stardegy to help boost the Cars Toons DVD sales. I’m not surpised really. Heck why have the same teaser in both DVDs, if it can just make it exclusive in Cars Toons DVD, which will be selling in lesser volumes compared to the Toy Story 3 DVD; which will be highly in demand. This just gives fans of Cars more a reason to buy the DVD, as it will show a exculsive teaser of next years summer blockbuster. I wish Pixar somewhat releases two different teasers, one in TS3 and the other in Cars Toons. But then again, they will be indulging us too much.
Nope. I don’t think it’s going to be pushed back. They already signed a deal with IMAX for the movie.
Personally, I think that the two new Cars Toons make up for the missing trailer. I can be kept waiting on just those.

I’m sorry to all the others, but I have to admit I kind of agree. You NEVER shift the entire focus onto the comedic relief. It just makes you look like your trying too hard, and its also difficult to make a good storyline about them.
I don’t hate Mater, but he is nowhere near my favorite character. And I’m getting more and more worried that this is going to be Pixar’s first “bad” film…

Anyways to say this film to fail is quite rude to mention and knowing what dedication Pixar put into their films I just don’t approve of that comment (even though what you guys predict is a possibility). So they made a little spin off series of Mater telling tales. Its just a light hearted show which I’m sure many like to see.
We all know Cars wasn’t as successful as what Pixar would normally produce. So I’m sure Pixar is quite conscious of Cars lack of success both financially (referring to Box office) and critically (failed to bag an Oscar and viewed as their weakest film to date). This is likely to have them improve on the story even more and produce a sequel much better than the first. Right now they are under pressure to deliver a more successful sequel and we are aware of Pixar not doing sequels unless the story is good. This film seems to have a good story, we will just have to judge for ourselves once its released. I personally don’t want Pixar to fail on any film they make, the passion they have is why I continue to support them.
I don’t think she wants it to be bad, just that it won’t make much/enough $.
Really? Because when I read that, she’s saying she want it to fail because she doesn’t like Mater. In fact, here is the quote again.
So what? Don’t like Mater? Don’t have to watch it. Personally, I think he’s the only one that actually puts life into the movie…not to mention the only funny one. Guys, no where did it say he was the new main character. So chill out. Really. Lightning is still racing and the Mater story is a sub plot. If he is the main character, oh well. He’s a good character to many people. Pixar isn’t going to change for just a few people.

Besides, Disney(including Pixar), often capitalize on the silly comic relief. They’re often the most popular characters. I like Mater. He’s not the best character, but I really like him.
They should at least make Lightning a little funnier.
Yeah, I guess so. It could be like The Emperor’s New Groove, where the primary character is really funny, and the side characters are semi-funny.
I’m getting kinda sick of Mater, too. Shift to McQueen and Sally. McQueen’s the protagonist, for gosh’s sake! And Kronk was the funniest character in Emperor’s New Groove, not Kuzco.
It’s not that I’m sick of him, it would just be nice to see the other characters more for a change. But I don’t hate him and I wouldn’t mind if he does become the main character. I’d love the movie regardless if it’s good or bad just because it’s Cars.
My thoughts exactly. I found Mate a very annoying character who get too much screentime.
