A friend of mine is going to be moving from
Atlanta to San Francisco and has asked me to help him move. He could not get both his cars shipped across the US
so he has asked me to drive once of his cars from Atlanta to San Fran.
I was absolutely blown away by
this opportunity. It is not certain yet whether or not I will be making this roadtrip but if I do I would like to
take I-40 right across and hopefully drive some of historic Route 66.
Unfortunately there is no one
particular town that resembles Radiator Springs, but if there is I’d definitely like to visit on my way.
According to Wikipedia Radiator Springs is loosly based on "Amboy, California and there are also suggestions
of Seligman, Arizona and Gallup, New Mexico".
I’ll see if I can stop by some of these places if they
are not too far out of my way.
Who knows I might have a similar experience as Lightening

Good luck![/size]

always wanted to take a road trip with my family across historic Route 66 ever since I saw the film
Cars. Looks like you finally have the chance. Have a great time…if you do go!

aZnCdn: Well, I hope you have fun. Enjoy yourself.
And tell us all about it. All of the details.

Ya I hope this road trip happens. I’ll keep you guys posted.
You lucky you ! Hopefully I’ll be able to do such a thing when I can drive ! lol .
That sounds great!
My parents rode with my dad’s parents and sister back in the late '50’s, when my father and mother were still
just dating, out to California from South Carolina, and picked up Route 66 in Texas. I can remember hearing my
grandmother tell about that trip, which they took just for the heck of it, in my grandfather’s '58 Chevy. My
grandmother did some desert exploring in New Mexico, and brought back this HUGE fossil ammonite(sorta like a
Chambered Nautilus, only way bigger)that sat out in one of her flower beds for many years when I was a child. I
can remember thinking it was a snail shell. There are still some old postcards and brochures in a drawer in
their house, where I stay much of the time now. It would be great to get together a bunch of classic car
enthusiasts from back east to make that trip, but with gasoline prices so high now, few people could afford it!
I’d love to drive one of my Studebakers down Route 66!

Pitbullady I
hear you on the gas prices. I just fileld up $3.00/gal two days ago.
Fortunately, since I am helping my
friend move he will be paying for the gas.
Wow, sounds good! It’ll probably be fascinating, and
very exciting, to sort of experience what Lightning did. Have fun!

Well a more exciting road trip that I will I’ll be doing for sure is going to North Carolina
June 1-3.
I am going to a place known as the Tail of the Dragon. The road is US-129 and it Borders North
Carolina & Tennessee.
What is significant about this road is that there are 318 turns in 11 miles. I
cannot wait… is it going to be a blast.
Even if you are not a car enthusiast, the scenery is amazing.
You go through the mountains of North Carolina from the base, up to 2500 feet. If you guys are ever in the area I
highly recommend checking it out. It is kind of a tourist attraction.
Here are some websites on
it

I just hope I don’t fly off the
road/cliff
318 turns in 11 miles?! Wow, that’s pretty amazing!

Hope you have great time, man!

Wow – that does look like fun! I love
sharp turns; the more there are…the better. But, like you said, don’t fly off the edge!
Have fun! I really don’t like too much
turns, but I am sure that a lot of them in just 11 miles should be exhilerating.
