Cartoon Network

I liked Frasier back when I was still in the target age group for most of those cheesy kids sitcoms, so kids can definitely enjoy it (well, older kids).

The thing that bugs me the most about the live-action kids shows is that they’re all so samey, especially the ones with girl protagonists. The girl main characters almost always have some kind of musical talent, even if that’s not what the show’s about. Most of the characters are incredibly stupid even if they’re supposed to be intelligent. The laugh track always sounds like a bunch of adults laughing, which is just plain confusing because I’m pretty sure that even the children who enjoy the show don’t actually laugh at every single joke. It annoys me that cartoons are more childish than live-action shows, when most live action kid’s shows don’t have an ounce of the creativity or intelligence that many of their animated counterparts have.

That said, Nick and Disney do have a few good shows. Nick has the Legend of Korra, Disney has Phineas and Ferb, for example.

^Not to turn the conversation too far away, but I don’t think that Disney’s sitcoms are all that bad, really. I wasn’t into many of them for a while, but in the last few years I’ve had better opinions of them and actually really laughed at them and felt a connection with the characters and storylines. Of course, I’m pretty biased when it comes to Disney, but that’s just me… but bottom line, cartoons are still my fave medium of TV show

I didn’t mind Lizzie Maguire. And the new ones can occassionally be funny… but I mostly find them really annoying. Although I haven’t seen as many of the Dinsey XD ones- for all I know Mr Young is comedy gold  I used to be friends with a guy who LOVED Disney sitcoms, so I guess there is an audience for them.

One thing that’s annoying about living in the UK is that we’re usually really behind on cartoons. They haven’t aired Symbiotic Titan here, Young Justice was already in its second season by the time it started here, we’re behind on Adventure Time and Regular Show, Legend of Korra hasn’t even aired yet… I mean, they’re all on the internet but I’d like to watch them properly, y’know?

Another annoying thing about Cartoon Network UK is that they used to show The Cramp Twins loads. Now they show it in the middle of the night, thank goodness. It was always a pretty boring show. I think they liked it a lot because it was partially made by the Europe branch of CN.

Cartoon Network UK can be really annoying. I had to watch Sym Bionic Titan online because CN just wouldn’t show it.

Is that the show where the ‘Booty Shake it’ video is from? Because I saw that clip and cracked up! Never heard or seen the show however.

Yup! It was the funniest thing ever! 8D

Oh man, I love that video. I was cracking up, especially at: “No!”

I remember watching CN (along with Disney and Nickelodeon) whenever my family visited my grandparents’ house. We didn’t have cable, but they did, and I would park myself with my siblings (after fighting over which channel to watch) and watch the telly for hours in the afternoon. This was during the late 90s to early 2000s, so I grew up with Johnny Bravo, Dexter’s Lab, Cow & Chicken, Courage The Cowardly Dog, etc.

I’m not familiar with CN’s new breed like Chowder, Flapjack, Adventure Time and Gumball, but I’ve seen a few episodes of The Regular Show on YouTube back when it first premiered. I think the newer shows are more surreal and use more mixed media (like Flapjack, Chowder and Gumball), which I think is an interesting progression from the real-world settings and cel animation of the older ones like Powerpuff Girls and Ed, Ed & Eddy.
