Central Brave Discussion

Yeah, I made a thread about that.

The moderators are aware of the need for it’s on sub forum. Hopefully it’ll come soon, but we can’t promise that.

I am so, so, soooo excited about this film!!! I’m huge on fantasy and deep fairy tales (like Legend Of Zelda  ) and now here Pixar’s doing one! This will be my first movie to follow since Wall-E, and I’m gonna follow it very closely. The teaser trailer and concept art are just astoundingly beautiful and magnificent. I’ve got like every bit of art I could find saved on my phone. :sunglasses: I just wish it would come out sooner! ;-o o_0 :~o

I really like how Pixar seems to be doing this… the traditional Disney/fairy-tale/princess theme, but with a new twist and everything else we love about Pixar. I just wonder what the full-on plot will be like…

Here are my opinions on the topic of Merida’s looks. In a feminine sense, I have to agree with some of you… she is a bit plain (but not ugly). However, I think she has an inner beauty that shines through her character and appearance as being strong-willed and determined, which accounts for any other lack of beauty. And she is a little pretty. I think the lack of stand-out beauty that is found in Disney princesses is actually for the better… it makes her more believable and, perhaps, likeable. Of course, we’re still judging this from the concept art and a few seconds of screen time. I guess we’ll just have to wait and see. :sunglasses:

Oh yeah, and I think the blue orbs are fairies.

I hope this won’t be Pixar’s only film with a lead female character.

Agreed 100%.

I agree. I think Pixar needs to exercise a little more diversity in their films. I don’t know, but I think we’ve got a good amount of female fans out there who deserve more female leads.

Leirin: You’re refering to Merida, right? Glad you agree.

Just pure speculation here. First off, do we know if the rock structure where the bear dwells is Stonehenge or not? I doubt it, because 1.) Stonehenge is located in England, not Scotland, and 2.) Stonehenge seems to have shorter stones and the perimeter seems to be wider than the bear’s dwelling in Brave. So, on the premise that the bear’s dwelling is not Stonehenge, is there perhaps a connection between the two? Like, maybe in this story, the significance of the bear’s dwelling is somehow connected to Stonehenge? I know we can’t decide much now, but it’s fun guessing.

Stonehenge is miles away from Scotland
Adding fuel to the speculation, there are quite a few legends connected. One is that of Arthurian legend, where the stones were put down by Merlin as a resting place for those slain by the Saxons, and they were transported from the top of an Irish mountain to Britian. I can’t see how this will be directly influencing Brave though.
There is another story about the dancing giants who were suddenly turned to stone, forming Stonehenge. I’m wondering whether the 3 Lords of the Lands have anything to do with this legend.
But pehaps what I think is most likely is the story of the devil buying stones from the elderly women (with the Wise Old Witch being the devil or the elderly women, maybe? He then bet villagers to count the stones. His plan was then foiled by a local, who then enraged threw the stone at him.

Yes, it’s clearly not Stonehenge, but an alike structure.

There are more megalith monuments in Britain than just Stonehenge, and clearly, this one is fictional.

Ah come on guys, Merida doesn’t look ugly. I mean yeah, she isn’t the cutest girl out there but she definitly isn’t ugly. Like they say, you can’t judge a book by looking at the cover. One thing real quick. Since some of us were talking about potential easter eggs for Brave, I wonder how they’ll get the Luxo Ball in there as well as John Ratzenberger’s character. My guess is that he’ll voice one of the Royal Triplets which are supposed to be Merida’s little brothers.

Yeah, but they’re three little boys, so Ratzenberger’s voice won’t do, really. I mean, they’re REALLY little, have you seen a picture of them?

Also, Luxo ball doesn’t appear in every Pixar film, so they may simply not put it at all, or maybe its design may appear in a tapestry, or something. What I’m mostly concerned about is the truck.

Yep, this is true. I even saw some on the neighboring island of Ireland.

I can’t wait to see Merida’s little brothers.

There’s concept art on them.

Oh. I’ll look them up, then. I can’t wait to see them moving and talking and stuff then! 8D

Oooh, cool! Could you give me a link to it?

They were included in the first released image:

Most people apparently forgot them and the peg-legged man.

She looks like a zombie in the art.

^It’s just from a photo taken at a conference, so the angle and lighting are why she looks like that.

I know the film is focused on Meridia and the Queen’s relationship, but I’m interested to see how much the King has to do with the movie.

Yes, we haven’t even seen an image of him. I hope he looks a little like Conelly, cause he really looks like a medieval king 8D
