As much as Brave should have it’s own forum, I don’t seeing it happen until the movie comes out. That’s if Phileas is around then.

Pixar just posted a photo on its Facebook page. We’ve seen the screencap before- it’s just the family in the court- but it’s captioned and includes the names of Merida’s brothers! Apparently their names are Harris, Hubert, and Hammish. I think this is the first we’ve seen names for them!
I like the names for the triplets. The idea of having all three’s names beginning with “H” is pretty cool.

I’m still not even sure what to think of Brave yet, even with a full trailer out now. There isn’t enough of the story in there for me to really understand the tone and pacing of the film… stuff like that. But Pixar trailers haven’t always been my favorite. I remember disliking the Ratatouille teaser but getting goosebumps when the full-length trailer came out, and the latter definitely did a good job representing the film. Now I’m wondering how the Brave trailer will measure up to the actual film, because it’s meeehhhh so far. Nothing really grabs my attention besides Merida’s hair (which seems to be metaphorically tied down and concealed while in her royal position) and the giant bear silhouette, but then again, from what I understand of the story, a lot of the interesting stuff isn’t even included.
Honestly, the first thing my mind said when watching the trailer was HTTYD meets Tangled (probably the female character designs and lack of “personality” in many aspects—yes, I did find Tangled to be a little bland), but who knows! I think Pixar could come up with something great to contribute to what otherwise might be borderline bland (to be frank, Scottish culture doesn’t interest me a whole lot, especially aesthetically, and I even have past relatives who came from there). I definitely don’t want Pixar’s work to be confused for any other studio, and it’s tough because they’re trying something very different with Brave: female protagonist, past setting, fairy tale/princess plot, no buddy film stuff.
When the movie comes out, though, I’ll be walking in there with a completely open mind. I want this to be a great one.
