Anyone think some girls will be going as Merida for Halloween?

Maybe. I don’t see this movie as being so much popular with little girls.

I think this movie will probably not be excessive to little girls, unlike other Disney Princess flicks.

I guess because their won’t be a hot dude for them to go gaga over.

I think little girls aren’t that sick, David. I meant because there aren’t songs, Merida isn’t very regal(or beautiful).

How is Brave not appealing to girls? The main character is a girl who rides a horse and has adventures in a floor length dress, plus she gets to upstage the boys. Little girls love it when they get the chance to upstage boys. I know because I used to be a little girl. And how is Merida not beautiful? She may not be on the same level as Snow White, Sleeping Beauty or Belle (whose defining traits were their beauty), but she certainly isn’t ugly.

It’ll probably be relatively popular, because, regardless of how it was played out, ever since I was little I enjoyed cool strong female leads. If anything they’ll probably like the movie because it’s pretty to look at. 8D

It all has to do with singing pretty much? If they did wanna be a new Disney princess, Merida would be the choice untill Frozen is made.

Merida isn’t relly ugly. If you ask me, the least attative princess is Snow White. Yet there Snow White constumes.

I think Snow White is unattractive in the original film (no nose!), but she’s more pleasant in the design they use for the merchandising.

Merida’s popularity will depend on how the film is marketed. If a lot of promotions go on the Disney Channel and elsewhere, little girls will probably be interested in seeing it. They just need to know the film exists and it has an awesome female lead.

Does Disney handle the marketing for Pixar’s films? I have zero faith that Disney’s marketing will do anything rational, so that could certainly hurt Brave :unamused: Remember the marketing for Tangled and Pooh?

I’m not quite sure about that…

Well the Brave trailer was surprisely good. Pixar trailers arn’t usally that good. I see the main attendance being around are age. Same as Toy Story 3 was while Cars 2 was for the younger fans.
But I still see a good young attendance seeing it.

That’s debatable. I’ve seen a lot of criticism towards the trailer.

Snow White is NOT ugly. I will not discuss or argue this with you, because I resent that you would say that.

I do think there’s a problem with Snow White’s design and it’s the shapeless nose:

The marketing is obviously aware of that, and they’ve reshaped her face for all products featuring her.

I also like girl’s with long hair more. I think she’s about the same as short haired Rapuznel.

Yes, in the personal I’m not too crazy about her hair either, but I understand it reflects the hairstyles of the era in which the film was made, so it’s natural they did it that way.

That’s true.

When is Merida suppose to be added to the lineup? Didn’t it take Rapunzel about a year to be put into the Disney Princess lineup.

I personally also think Snow White looks very nice (and I kind of like her small button nose since it makes her look youthful) but I don’t want this to get further off-topic, so I’ll stop.

I’m guessing Merida will be in the lineup immediately before the movie’s release so they can do some merchandising with her, but I’m not certain.

Their’s a lot of awkwardness about Snow White’s original character animation. She may not be ugly, but she still looks strange next to the more cartoony looking dwarves and animals. The short answer to that is the Disney animators were not very good at animating realistic humans at the time, so they used good ol’ Rotoscoping on them. (Google that if you don’t know what it is) They did the same thing on the Blue Fairy in Pinocchio, which was a lot more obvious since there were no other characters in that movie who were animated that way. They improved a lot since those movies, though, and Rotoscoping is no longer used.
