Central Cars 2 Discussion

Iā€™ve seen CARS 2 3 times so far, this Saturday I will probably catch it again (4th time) with a second view of Transformers 3,Iā€™m loving the summer, Canā€™t Wait for harry potter 7.2 though

Iā€™ve only seen it twice.

Well, Iā€™m going for a second world tour hopefully next week! I want to see it in IMAX before they make way for Potter mania.

And yes, I have seen Cars 2 (and rewatched Kung Fu Panda 2 right after that). What do I think? Well, Iā€™ll write a review on that (of course) and youā€™ll find out soon enough!

Wow, Brian, you are a true Pixar fan! 8D This Saturday is my second viewing, and I only get to see it twice because itā€™s my 16th birthday party. Normally, I would only get to see it once until Christmas. 8D

I donā€™t think he did. Itā€™s a multi BILLION dollar franchise. I work at an airport, and not a day goes buy where I donā€™t see Cars merchandise is some form, like toys, clothes or backpacks. And Iā€™ve been seeing this long before Cars 2 hype started. Everyday I see little girls with Disney Princess stuff and boys with Cars stuff.

Hoo weeā€¦ Iā€™ve been to KMart, Target, Big W, even a Toysā€™Rus in Adelaide and theyā€™ve got a pistachio-load of merchandise! The amount of tie-ins are staggering! :open_mouth: Lightning McQueen diapers, anyone?

Anyway, hereā€™s my review of the film. Lock and load, agents!

Iā€™m glad to see you back around Pixar Planet! I already read your review, and sent a short reply on twitter. I really liked it, and you made many great points. Iā€™m glad you pointed out the conflicting morals, I didnā€™t notice that!

Did they say when or how Doc died in the movie?

^ no they did not.

Okay, I didnā€™t think so. I wish they did.

So do I but Iā€™m guessing that it was [spoil]quite a while before the Gran Prix since both Mater and McQueen were able to talk about it without getting deeply emotional and they had that monument and everything.[/spoil]

Yeah. That probably helped them support their decision of having it be 4-5 years later.

Although, Pixar could just be doing a fun little trend where they make the sequel take place the actually amount of time later since the previous film was made. TS3 seemed to take place about 11 years after TS2, as well, and it has been 5 years since the first Cars. Idk. I always thought the timeline working with the real world was kinda neat, though.

Youā€™re right, it does line up! I think itā€™s cool too because it makes it feel more realistic in my opinion. As if their lives were going on for those 5 years without us and then when we sit down to watch them again it just happens to be when McQueen gets invited to the Gran Prix. Makes it feel like itā€™s in real-time you know?

Exactly! And it worked for TS3 to make it more heart wrenching because youā€™ve been growing up alongside Andy. Itā€™s a really neat thing Pixar is doing with sequels and time whether they intended it or not.

I agree! It definitely gives it a whole different view and makes it more ā€œrelatableā€, if that makes sense.

And now Iā€™m wondering what else happened in those 5 years we missed, other than [spoil]Doc dying[/spoil] and whatā€™s shown in the video games. LOL.

I wish I knew what happened then too! I want to know what [spoil]the first Piston Cup McQueen won was like? Was it with Doc? How did they celebrate? And when did McQueen officially ask Sally out? And where the heck did Chick go?![/spoil] So many wonders!!

Thatā€™s what fan fiction is for!

I saw a hippie looking Smart car the other day and my first thought was that it looked like it could be Fillmoreā€™s girlfriend.

Haha! Thatā€™s an interesting thought!

This is by my sister:
[spoil]I saw this movie at a late-night showing, and it was great. But during the Tokyo scene, I thought it was too similar to one episode of Ojamajo Doremi, which can be watched here: [url]- YouTube
13 minutes into the episode, Caitlyn wets herself and makes her sister fail an exam. Cars 2 had Mater leaking during the opening ceremony, but he does find a toilet. Lighting McQueen looses the Tokyo race and blames it on Mater!
The StateFarm ad refrence was too funny! And I thought the person on the restroom TV monitor sounded like this character, but it was higher pitched:[url]- YouTube. Sure, the ending of the movie was really great, but why do you want to repeat the Materā€™s accident during the opening ceremonies everytime youā€™re putting him down?[/spoil]
