I just can’t wait!!! I’ve seen cars a couple times in the past two weeks, so I’m sorta preparing for it!
I do agree with one comment I saw, saying (paraphrased a bit) that it was better the stinker be Cars 2 than a sequel to a really great movie. Now, I love Cars, but I in no way think its the best movie Pixar ever made, and I’d rather see a bad sequel to something like that rather than, say, WALL-E, or a bad Toy Story 4. Or even worse, Finding Nemo…
To be honest, I think to expect a team to always churn out great movies, never making a mistake, is kind of delusional. Pixar is run by humans, after all, and humans do slip from time to time. If Pixar lasted decades without ever making a bad movie, I might worry that they are actually aliens come to take over our minds with their great movies so they can conquer the world.
I can only hope that Monsters University and Brave (super excited for this one) will fare better. And, though you guys are going to want to slowly and painfully kill me for this …it might give Disney a chance to win the academy award for Winnie the Pooh, which would really help them in reestablishing their own animation department.
This is no “mistake” people. Just because it may not be as good as the other Pixar film does not make it a mistake. I mean heck, it’s a sequel. Nobody ever really expects a sequel to excell the original do they? It’s a rare thing to happen and I’m quite sure it’s not going to happen with this film. So what? It will most likely be an excellent, or at least enjoyable movie. Why don’t we look at the bright side for once? Cars 2 comes out tomorrow! We should be celebrating, not bringing it down!
After actually reading these reviews, I see why they’re unfair. They’re basing how good the movie is off of Pixar’s other movies and how it compares. WHY? This movie should stand on it’s own! I’m sure if Dreamworks put out this movie it would get much better reviews!
We can’t always expect something like Toy Story 3. You’re not always gonna cry. Personally, I’m really glad this is a fun movie - it’s nice to see a change. And from what I’ve heard, the movie is very fun, very colorful, and very fast-paced.
^ Exactly. You don’t have to cry to enjoy a movie. A nice, fun flick is perfect for starting the summer off.
40% at rotten tomatoes;
and the only reason this guy didn’t like (as he says)
“Of all the great Pixar films and franchises, “Cars” is perhaps the most difficult to embrace.”
not fair!!! theres gotta be a better reason than that! these people are very annoying.
Wow. No way to back it up eh? That’s just blatent dislike right there, quite unfair.
40%…
Ah man, that’s bad…
Now that Ebert’s review is out, I don’t really care what the RT score is.
I’m still sad about the score, but the fact that Ebert liked it is extremely reassuring for me. I generally agree with his reviews.
What I love about Ebert is that he takes films how they are as a human. He doesn’t compare films, bias his response, or base his reviews off of extended knowledge. He concentrates on what should be, how the film stands alone. He takes in the movie as it should be, with the human soul in mind.
Ebert is one of my most trusted reviewers. I’m definitely more excited now.
I’m actually shocked at how poorly the movie is being received. I was not expecting a rotten rating at all. However, the average rating according to RT is a 5.4, which isn’t really horrible.
Not to say I was less excited, but the rotten reviews were getting my mood down. Ebert’s review just brought it wayyyy up. Maybe now that other critics see his review the score will start to go up?
So Bryko, do you still plan on ever watching the movie? (whether it be in theaters or not) Because you clarified it a while back you were staying away from Cars 2 at all costs xD
Really? All the negative reviews have gotten me more excited to see it…So I can laugh at them all when I realize how awesome the movie truly is.
(I’m genuinely terrified to post in this thread due to possible spoilers). Don’t mind me though. Continue.
Like I said before, I’m going to enjoy the movie immensely no matter what the reviews are and that’s all that really matters.
It would be nice to see the score go up though
I wouldn’t worry too much, Chuckles, everyone’s been careful with spoilering their posts thus far
I think none of us want spoilers
It’s down to 39%
C’mon DD, turn that frown upside down. Think about something uplifting, like how hilarious Armond White’s review will be.
