Central Monsters University Discussion

It’s good, but what are they looking at?

I guess it’s safe to say the teaser’s been posted.

Feedback?

It was interesting, I hope they don’t reveal too much of the central themes in future trailers like they did with the Brave trailers. It does seem a tad too comical but I’ll bet my money on Pixar pulling off something mind blowingly fantastic that nobody’ll expect.

I’m just hoping these upcoming trailers aren’t too messy like some of Pixar’s other trailers.

Pretty nice teaser, but I’m still not sure about Sully’s redesign.

I also think a lot of critics will bash MU for being too comedic. It doesn’t seem to have a lot of emotion to it. But personally, I have no problem with Pixar putting out a purely funny movie if it’s done well.

I don’t doubt the movie will have some good emotional stuff in it. But it’ll be a feel-good movie for sure.

There are actually 4 different trailers, but they’re mostly the same, except for what Mike whispers.

Yeah. I loved the “The homework ate my dog” line.

The teaser trailer is great (as are most pixar teasers!)

I still need to warm up to the new design of the characters.

Eleven years knowing and loving the originals is a lot.

Does anyone else feel that?

^ I know what you mean. The characters look a little too ‘cuddly’.

I just rewatched it and noticed Little mikey!

The Teaser Looks great and i’m sure that there will be a lot of emotional stuff in the movie, just like any other Pixar!

Some of the animation, especially in the hallway scenes, looked kind of off to me. I’m just hoping that these scenes won’t be in the final product.

No, this is obviously one of those clips that are only for the trailers and won’t be in the final film.

But I doubt the quality of the visuals in the final film will be too different from this.

I also felt kind of underwhelmed by them, for the first time with a Pixar trailer.

About the character re-designs- is this just because they’re younger, or did Pixar have to re-create the characters because the old models weren’t compatible with the new software? I know that was an issue with TS2 and TS3, and Monsters was produced about the same time. If this is the case, maybe the changes are more obvious because the models are new AND they made them look younger.

I like it!

Just watched the teaser and I liked it. I like the throwback to the original film’s teaser and the use of Spandau Ballet in the soundtrack. Mike looks a little too young though. Kind of feel sorry for him, and it gives me the impression he’ll be the college punching bag. You know, the one that always gets picked on. Funny how his voice isn’t different at all.

I am conflicted myself (just saw an article about the four trailers elsewhere, was going to post something but was beaten to the punch it seems!).

I mean I found the prank to be genuinely funny but all the same… yeah college movies aren’t really my thing in general. I was both entertained and yet made to feel anxious about it at the same time. I guess it’s because while I’d have found this to be pretty hilarious as a short or something, as a basic movie premise I am still not yet sold at all.

I did like the teaser but the designs (esp Sulley’s) seemed kinda off to me. But that’s probably because of being so used to how they have looked after so many years. I like the Spandau Ballet bit. Reminds me of a party scene in comedy series Spaced if anyone gets that reference

I think the teaser was alright, but it’s still too early to judge.
