Challenges

I think you are really accurate on what the movie will show Mitch.

JV - Haha – thank you, sir! But, of course, they are just mere guesses; I

could be wrong on every one of those points. (snigger)

I think there are. Remy live in a sewer.

Consider it as his santcuary.

But don’tcha think Remy would rather hang out in the kitchen?

:stuck_out_tongue:

~~=oP

The kitchen is indeed a significant setting for the film, but it is also a dangerous

setting.

Makes me wonder how the Pixar artists are gonna do that? The beauty of a kitchen with hidden/or

sometimes unhidden dangers.

The

thing is, there might be certain scenes in places that we don’t know will even be included in the film yet.

It’s really hard to tell at this stage.

Concerning the whole textures/settings deal, we will find out soon enough. June 29, 2007 is

only just around the corner, even if its secrets are being revealed ever so slowly…

I have a question,

although it isn’t that relevant to our discussions on Ratatouille’s challenges:

Why did the Pixar animators make Remy blue?

As some of you may know

already, there is such a thing as a “blue” rat. As a matter of fact, there are several standards of

rats in this particular color, the most common one being this little beauty:

Little Blue

Beauty

I think that they made our hero blue because: a) it shows that

Remy is unique and different compared to the rest of his family, and b) it makes him

“stand out” in color and in personality.

What do you guys think?

Personally, I think Pixar made Remy blue because if given

a grey color, he would look dull or boring. People could mistake him for a background character. I agree with

your “standing out” theory.

A Star

Swordsman - Oh yes, I agree with your theory, as well. Most people view rats in either a brown or

black/grey color, so blue makes Remy look a little more “appealing”, so to speak.

To be honest, I like the color blue! I like his

uniqueness.

Haha – so do I, to tell

you the truth. I think it’s cool! My sister especially likes it because blue is her favorite color.

I

think Remy’s dad (if he even is his dad) is a bit of “teal” blue, too. Either that, or he is just a

really light grey color…

I’m sure they will put in grey rats here and there.

Probably. We already know that there will be a brown rat in the film (“Rollie”), and

Remy’s father (relative?) does look grey.

I wonder if another member of Remy’s family is the same

blue-ish color, as well? That would explain where he got his unique coloration from…

I’m almost

embarassed to say it, but, whenever I look at Remy I see myself. (Man…that was off-topic.) Heh…

Plus, I think the blue matches the lighting of the

sewers. And it really stands out in the restrant in the teaser. Much better than grey I must say.

Hey yeah, I never thought about that: it matches the

sewers! Great observation…

I also agree with your statement in that Remy’s coloration does stand

out quite well within the confines of the restaurant. I wonder: are Remy’s eyes different then that of his other

rodent counterparts? The only other rats we have seen are “Rollie” and Remy’s father/relative,

however, so we probably really can’t judge at this point. If his eye color was quite different from his

family’s eyes, then it would also exemplify the point that he is unique.

Note: I looked, and Remy’s eyes are orange/light brown. I can’t really

tell with “Rollie”, but I think they are dark brown.

If you see it in you sig, he looks really greay. However, I think the lighting in the sewers

changed his color drastically.

The Star Swordsman - Kind of makes you think what other lighting

and shadow effects will have on Remy… Will he appear black in a dark setting? If placed in a room filled with

a bright lights, will Remy’s blue coloration “change” to an extremely light color, such as light blue

or white?

I highly doubt the latter, but you never know.

I believe so. He will be in the sewers and in the kitchen in most of the scenes

I’m guessing. So there could be a big change.

I figure maybe the fur would be a challenge, but

other than that i’m not too sure. I’ll have to see the movie and guess what they had the most trouble with

The Star Swordsman - Indeed

– there could be a few big changes, that’s for sure. Well, we’ll find out next

year…

lennonluvr9 - I wondered about this very problem myself, but then

PixarVixen (or one of the other posters) pointed out that, after

Monsters Inc., fur shouldn’t be too much of a problem.

However, there

will still be a few challenges, I’m sure. Remy, being a rat, will probably travel along the local sewer

lines/waterways, which will result in his fur getting wet and soggy. They will also have to deal with reflections

bouncing off the fur, gusts of wind blowing the hair in all directions, perhaps singed fur (after the little

“fire incident” in Remy’s household), and maybe even hot and sweaty fur.

But hey, this is

Pixar. They can do pretty much anything.
